just found a bug if you place down a bucket of purified water and it flows further then 8 blocks itll cause some extreme lag

Does anyone know what mod causes ground items to not despawn? It is a terrible idea to have that turned on if you dont have something to clear the ground items every once in a while and I believe its causing my server to lag.

If the chunks are not loaded the timer will freeze.

That is vanilla minecraft behaviour though.

There are "entity-clear" mods that wipe dropped items every few minutes, but I am fairly certain they can also just clear the items from loaded chunks.

I find it difficult to imagine that a 10GB server cannot handle 2 people (while the recommended amount for up to 5 people is only 5GB of RAM). So maybe it is some kind of setting.

I would suggest two things:
a) Log in on your host's website and look at the server's performance there. You should be able to see CPU and RAM usage as well as tps.
b) You could backup your world (by downloading the \world folder from the server) and then make a new world to see whether the issue persists. It may be possible that your save is bugging out.

Depends on your playstyle really. I had most fun with Avian but used moth for a long time, too.
