Your router/modem has a firewall as well. And it will block everyone trying to connect to your PC unless you "forward" that port, meaning you tell your router to redirect every connection using that port directly to your PC.
You can do that in the interface of your router.

Besides enchanting the items with mending, life-mending or indestructible you can repair them on an anvil with another one of their kind or (in many cases at least) with iron/leather. Weapons at least. Probably need enchantments for the artifacts.

Or use a cauldron.
You can enchant a water bucket with infinity, so you can refill the cauldron without having to run to a lake.

Ever since v42, I haven't been able to upgrade (It gets to 191 of 192 files and then errors with "No Java executable found. Cannot execute post-installation tasks for forge". I couldn't upgrade to v43 or v44. So, I wiped out everything and uninstalled Curseforge...reinstalled Curseforge and when installing MEDIEVAL MINECRAFT FORGE 1.16.5, it still fails in the same place with the same error. I can play normal Java Minecraft with no issues. Not sure what's up with this and didn't find much help on the web. [Hopefully this is the right spot for this? Should it go under General?]

That was it! I had just launched Minecraft Java and it was 1.18.1. I checked my installations and 1.16.5 wasn't there so I installed a new one and the MOD is now installing. No idea when 1.16.5 got removed as I don't remember ever doing that. Thanks for the push in the right direction as I was suspecting Curseforge and the MOD and not Java Minecraft (as I hadn't made any changes to it...I've been only playing modded Minecraft via Curseforge for the last few months). 🙂

I don't know exactly what Minecraft overrides, but 1.18 uses a different version of Java than 1.16, so it seems like playing on 1.18 made Minecraft install another Java-version which overrides the one that's required for this modpack.
If installing 1.16.5 vanilla doesn't fix it we'll have to manually install the correct java again :)
