You can craft a house with a torch, the build tool and planks. Then use the build tool to place it down.
If you just started with a colony I suggest to build a tavern instead though.
It can house 4 citizens at lvl 1, unlike a house which can house 1 citizen per level only.

Just an update, been playing for longer than an hour and no issues, I'm heading to bed, he'll let me know if there's any further issues, but looks like a combination of -Dfml.readTimeout=360 and view distance=4 fixed it

the chests haves lots of random stuff, mostly iron, gold, diamons, emeralds and relics and dungeon gear

You're not supposed to use Sodium itself, but the forked version of it, called Halogen.
Sodium is fabric-only. Halogen is Sodium but converted to forge.

Hello everyone, was anyone able to download optifine, shaders and such, my game keeps crashing every time I try to load it with optifine in the mod folder
Works fine for me, was able to set it to Far Frome Home 7

There is a mob in the nether, inside Awful Ghast dungeons, which has a 100% drop chance for wither skeleton skulls. But as oh no said, wither skeletons drop them here just like in vanilla.

Yep, it takes significantly longer to load with Optifine. Can be 10 minutes.

Unfortunately there is no alternative for shaders. You need Optifine for that.
Some mods didn't script their flowers as forge:flower, so please try it with vanilla flowers.

yeah i can't get the OTG preset to work. Selecting it and loading in results in the default OTG preset, but hitting the Customize button and changing it to Far From Home resets the world type to vanilla default. Hopefully someone finds a solution.
It's a shame, it looks pretty cool. Especially the ocean generation

Endermen can only teleport within a range of 32 blocks. If your spawner-room has walls/floor/ceiling of 33 blocks they can't tp away.
so burning is a passive ability on armor that burns mobs without giving XP but drops items. if you wanna farm bags in the nether off of zombie pigmen then burning armor is nice

thats one sad ending to my last run.... i was forced into a nether portal by a dragon, went looking for loot almost died like 8 times.... got to a piglin tower and gathered enough obsidian somehow to make it out. the dragon somehow still followed me.... I get out and start digging and end up in an iron maiden... then get one shot by a magma slime

You could of course just add higher levels without disenchanting. Disenchanting will also destroy the crossbow, which means the affixes will be rip.

Also check whether you got a \crash-reports folder in your directory. It should be right below your \config folder.

The corpse is usually generated in some free space "nearby". Nearby can be anything though really. Like a cave below or above the spot you died at. Try digging around a bit.

Here's the full story (it's kinda short): I started playing in v37, and soon it was updated to v38. So I played that, and after a while it started consistently crashing. After a couple crashes, it crashed and wouldn't load back up again. Hence the world loading issue. Then I updated to v39
Ohhh. And then you were happy about the update and couldn't log back in a single time? XD

Alright, so: v39 is broken because of OTG (which is what requires the optimization, and it's also what your logs said were your issue in v39).
If you have the patience for it then please go back to v38 (where you kept crashing), it might be a lot easier to fix the crash on that version.

Kinda sad that I pretend I could fix crashes while my game is broken still.
From what I know of, the easiest way for scrap in a sense, is going to the castle in the sky, just requires you to trade with a cartographer until they reach master and have the levitation stone, otherwise, the dungeons that have it built into them are the next best bet, though I haven't tested that, I've only heard others say that.
You can fix other people's issues, just not your current one :P

Yep, it's quite far but you are guaranteed it, as opposed to exploring aimlessly for the other dungeons to spawn in hopes they have scraps. Plus in a way, you are doing that exploration
my castle in the sky was at like 21k blocks so you still have a lot of blocks to go
it wasn't hard for me, i didn't have lots of mobs spawning from spawners

Rightio, most likely the OTG bug is a conflict with another mod. I extracted the three required mods for it (otg, ffh, byg) and put them on a test profile, worked perfectly and didn't revert back to the default type. Time to see if I can tell what the conflict is but most likely it's gonna be a tough one to figure out

In the big area below the surface of the castle (basically the hemisphere the castle is standing on) is dark and you get normal mobs there. Zombies mostly.
yeah so i dropped down towards it and now im in a lit up room with two yellow doors and i dont have keys for either of them and the room is lit up so nothing is spawning

You can fly on top of the "tower" also, I think there is a way in there or nearby.
Once you obtain the yellow key, open the right door, and you should be able to progress

To use OTG generation since the menu is bugged for some reason, most likely due to mod conflict:
In order to work, you must remove defaultoptions.jar from the mod folder

Download the file I included. This will use OTG's configuration to default the world type to OTG with Far From Home 7 as the overworld generation preset when creating a new world.

Place the downloaded file in the "DimensionConfigs" folder located on the path:
Medieval Minecraft [FORGE] - 1.16.5\config\OpenTerrainGenerator\DimensionConfigs -
Load up MC, create a new world and enjoy the OTG generation, it'll take a little to load so give it time.
Note: Do not rename the file. It must be Modpack.yaml or else it won't work as OTG won't view it as a valid config and will ignore it like it does the example files in the folder.
Also this does not allow the use of vanilla world gen
Now to test if it allows other mod biomes to generate alongside the FFH7 ones, if not then it may be a problem that makes it not worth using if the mod biomes have unique items only gained from it
Only do this if you want to use the OTG, if you don't want OTG generation, ignore and play normally. (note for those who see this and aren't in the loop of what testing we are doing on it)

So, in order for OTG to generate modded biomes, someone has to go through and manually put it into the FFH7 preset WorldConfig.ini file. I'm not too savvy with all the mods that add in their own biomes and I don't have the time to do that atm

It's just another world-generator that was added in the latest update. And it messes up everything.
Just new biomes and different layouts of the world, it could work, but it needs a massive manual change specific for this modpack
Alongside fixing the bug that prevents selecting the world type in the first place

For the sake of the tests, can you select the FFH7 world gen preset for the overworld and see if it reverts back to default after you hit enter from the OTG screen?
Also I believe it defaults to vanilla world gen so it won't actually be OTG

There's two issues to the OTG, something in the pack is conflicting and preventing the selection of FFH7, since it worked on a separate test of just OTG, FFH7, and BYG since that is needed for FFH7. And then the world gen issue when using FFH7 where mod biomes don't generate
The default settings for OTG without any editing by the user is vanilla world gen for the overworld, nether and the end

Try it with 8192MB allocated. 7.5 should not crash, but it obviously does. And make sure there are no invisible background processes eating your memory.
How do I check that
Right click your task bar and open the task manager.
You can sort the running processes by "memory usage", so you can easily see where all your memory is used up.

If you want you can send another crash report though, maybe it wasn't always the memory.

I was able to join the server at first then later on after turning graphics to low and giving unlimited amount of ram it wonโt even let me join it just closes, not crash report either.

Essentially if I am reading it right, the default is 1/360 chance per chunk to generate a dragon's nest so just increase the number and it'll make them more rare

Jungle, Savanna, and Badlands biomes, so assuming it follows the trend of the other two, any biomes, including modded, that are defined as those biome types should spawn them

That one seems to be related to a chunk loading error from the Goblins and Dungeons mod. Interesting, if it happens again, send the log and if it mentions Goblins and Dungeons, I'd suggest deleting it.

I'm almost positive it's the other way around: 360/10000 chance for a nest to spawn in any given chunk. Hippogryphs have 2 in the same file and they're quite rare. I 250 for my dragon file and it feels like they aren't as common as default.

@dense ibex There is a small chance that the normal mob spawns as a mutant. So you can only find them in places where the standard mob spawns a lot.

Then the config description is false. It literally say "1 out of this number, in a range of 1-10k". So it ranges between 1/1 and 1/10000. The bigger the number the smaller the chance.
@crystal gale For the hippogryph I don't even see this kind of setting. Instead you can set the spawn-weight for hippogryphs only. And that is indeed a smaller chance for a lower number.
