sorry to jump in and kinda shift the discussion, but i'm having crashing issues with this modpack, v23 and ofc 1.16.5

so originally performance was just kinda not up to par with this modpack, basically just sometimes my screen would freeze, and the frames would hit 60 but not consistently. however, while i was loading in new chunks I started experiencing crashes sometimes or just really prolonged freezes, so i figured optifine would help with this.
I go to add optifine like I do with most modpacks, but now when I try and start the game, it gets to basically the final stages of loading up everything, and then says "Freezing data" or something along those lines, and freezes and crashes.

specs:
16gb ddr4-2400 ram
i5-7500
evga 1060 6gb
western digital 1tb hard drive (not an SSD)
pc doesnt run hot ever, even if struggling with games and shit.

I've allocated just about 8gb of memory to the modpack like it recommends, even tho in the startup it says around 7gb which is normal ive come to learn, but any help anyone can give id appreciate

Do whatever you want, just that if you crash or experience issues it could be caused by the mods you added.
So before asking for helps, see if you can replicate the issue with no alteration to the modpack

I know More Villagers gives more professions, but can you give them Guard status?

Especially since the raids are pretty hard to defend unless you got very good enchanted gear

Hi, i am quite new when it comes to playing mods and managing mod packs.. but I am having terrible performance with this modpack. it'll run alright with periodic freezes.. but after about 30-45 mins of playtime, it begins freezing every couple of seconds.. lasting about 5 seconds at a time. and this never stops. i have lowered my graphics settings.. as well as installed optifine, but nothing seems to help. the only thing i can do is start up a new world, and restart the process

How much ram did you allocate to the modpack?

hey anybody know a way to make the game stop having lag spikes and pausing every few seconds? I already made it have 8G and the only mod i installed that would affect the game in any real way was optifine

and earlier when i was playing and exploring away from my base area, the game stopped working like i could walk around but i would try to open a chest or something or even right click a dragon skeleton and nothing happened. I would try to exit then the game would crash while in the process of saving and exiting.

@stark marten sorry for the late response, its part of the undead expansion mod, getting hit by an undead mob has a chance to curse you, and purple glowing zombies always give it if you get hit

@fickle remnant you need a golden brace or something like that, it looks like a golden lead, if you look up "@(name of mod they are from) golden" you will find it in the JEI

also I really recommend installing either hyperbox or pocket dimension II for a unique experience in this modpack. I started a new world of version 23.5 and gave myself one to start with, you can have a hyperbox inside of a hyperbox and so on to make an entire base inside a single pocket dimension, just dont forget to pick it up lol

and the hyperbox has external redstone capabilities that you can make inside of the dimension, I can set a hyperbox under a chest and have a hopper system set up in it of like 50+ chests and it would only take up a single block in the over world

and you can mine it and take it anywhere

I am going for a portable base, the main hyperbox will be a nice room with other hyper boxes on display going to different parts of the base, one dimension for storage, redstone testing, another for a hopper system, some dimensions I am going to turn into themed portal dimensions, like a whole hyperbox that is nether themed with a nether portal in it, netherrack, lava, and it would look like your in the nether, and another for the abyss and so on

You need to craft a "golden bridle" search it up and take a look at the recipe. Then right click the pegasus with the item :) it's much harder to tame a pegasus so you might get thrown off the pegasus multiple times but just keep riding it and you'll tame it eventually

Hello! I've created a medieval server, we're just playing with 3-5 players but we're experiencing frequent lag spikes (roughly every minute, server stops ticking) then it will return to normal again after a few seconds. We're just roaming around generated chunks, so there's no generation of chunks happening while we experience the lag.

Any idea why is this happening? It's all good on betterMC though, same java startup settings applied on medieval server.
Server's allocated RAM is 12GB, out of 16GB total. Hosted on an M1 mac. Network bandwidth is 300mbps over fiber line.

Panda afaik it's a visual glitch only. Instill have 20 hearts. Take damage and ur 10 heart won't dissaper

Nope. Optifine won't cause the issue. Look for n latest.log. almost at bottom. Upon connection attempts to server. You'll see a list of what mods are troubling you.

when I take damage, the missing hearts do not recover, but only the visible ones disappear (moments later they regenerate from a maximum of 10 hearts)

we atleast need mahou tsuaki and backpack mods and akashic book mods

It's because of the weight. I advice you to remove the Survive mod or disable the weight

If you keep it look for featherweight or weightless enchantments. That should keep you nice.

Somebody last night said that the villagers don't breed by being given food by farmers

I just tested this out and it is true, but the reason is that the food thrown, carrots, when on the ground are being taken back again by the farmer. Thus going into a infinite cycle of the farmer throwing and picking up his food

I recorded it. If the owner/developer wants to see it 🙂

Found a fix for it. Simply lift the villagers 1 block higher with a fence underneath them and add the trapdoors higher too. Farmers will still be able to throw food at them 😄

However, since there are seasons in this modpack, certain food like carrots will grow faster only during certain time of the year [ spring autumn ] . Unfortunately, even potatos are fertile during Spring ... So during summer and winter, famers won't help too much. You will have to bonemeal if you want more villagers.

I think there is a bug when sometimes when I am near a certain cave or biome I get instantly loot in my inventory

Issue with tea shaders is it don't know the above 255 and below -1 levels of overworld

So until the dev updates the shaderpack to properly render them areas there isn't a way to fix it yet.

Your server is lagging that's why chunks won't load. If it's singleplayer same thing applies just intergrated server

And crashing possibly because of lag.

@vestal verge Sorry I am late. I am the dev for Repurposed Structures. The crash that 4Toonity linked happens when the structure start pool is empty. The pool is used for getting pieces for the structure in order to create it.

The main way this crash occurs is due to my structure processor being failed to be parsed by Minecraft. And this tends to happen either by a datapack that forgot to add all the properties of a block or a mod added a new property to vanilla blocks in an unsafe manner.

If you have RS Abnormals + Farmers Delight Compat datapack on, that datapack is broken but you can download the fixed version from my comment on this issue report.

i have a feeling it is this. when one json file fails to be parsed, it could break other worldgen json files due to mc's bad error handling. Now I just need to find where those two files are and remove them to see if that is what is killing all my structures

Hey I have an issue, I've been playing the Medieval Fabric version and it has been good, but I couldn't play the Medieval Forge versions, it crashes when it tries to load the world and the Java (not responding) pops up, does anyone know how to fix the problem?

the game could be deadlocked if it is stuck for a long while. Some modpacks had that issue because a mod's worldgen was broken

but we will need more info that just "not responding". Like how long were you waiting? How much RAM did you assign mc?

building on this, I shoved feywild into 23.5 and my structures still have their pools. hmm. Something else changed between 23 and 23.5 fixed the issue but I dont know what. It isnt feywild

Feywild was definitely our issue. After testing with it quite a bit every crash occurred with feywild included. No crash without feywild. So it either caused it or created it.

wait a second. i looked closer at the original crash...
it's a separation/spacing issue more likely. Not pool. meaning someone may had set the spacing/separation to an invalid value in a config for a structure and crashed it. That's why I'm not seeing anything about pools here it seems.

and since you said it was feywild, I looked into their config and...

yeah. min distance needs to be less than average distance. not equal or greater. That was causing their structures to crash. Now to test 23 with fixed config and locating their structures

fabric modpacks tends to have smaller mods so the modpacks dont end up trying to use all the Ram you assign

but forge modpacks will usually take up more as they have bigger mods with more assets and if you assign it 8GB, it will fight with your os over the remaining ram unless you limit the ram for mc

Ok so the crashes was feywild but because of bad config entries. So all the crashes that had this:

    at net.minecraft.world.gen.feature.structure.Structure.func_242785_a

was because of this in feywild's config packaged with the modpack.

Min distance between structures must always be less than the average so set all the minDistance = 500 to minDistance = 499 and you should be able to add feywild again safely without crashing. I tested that change to the config and did a /locate and teleport to their giant trees and the crash is gone

If you find these kinds of crashes in the future, add Blame mod on temporarily and it'll print more info like this for certain worldgen crashes:
