In order to use OptiFine, follow the steps below:
For 1.16.5 Forge: Remove Magnesium and Dynamic Lights Reforged, add OptiFine HD U G8 to the mods folder.
For 1.18.2 Forge: 1.18.2 comes with Oculus that gives you Shaders with 90% less load times. If you want to use Optifine then remove the Oculus, Rubidium and Dynamic Lights Mods then add Latest 1.18.2 OptiFine to the mods folder.
Optifine Issues are not Supported in the Github however it shouldn't be an issue asking in the Discord for help.

1.16 is "done" / not the focus of development + it's on version 56 which means it's been developed a lot
1.18 is actively being developed, but has some pretty big incentives to play it over 1.16 such as the terralith world gen
if you ask me I think it'd be accurate to say 1.16 has more content atm but then again I haven't fully kept up with the last few updates so it may be close to catching up

I added a mod [FORGE][1.18.2] Simple Voice Chat 1.18.2-2.2.43 to Better Minecraft [FORGE] - 1.18.2 and it crashed upon game start. I reached out to the support of Simple Voice Chat and they said it was and issues with a different mod in the modpack. was wondering if anyone would be able to help me get this working.

you use rubidium + oculus as opposed to optifine now, 90% faster load times and significantly better frames too
may have compatibility issues though such as overgrown stone in this pack crashing your game/not rendering, or in another pack my friend made there were random stuff not loading, so yeah it's still in development but very much worth it just avoid the one or two biomes with overgrown stone lol
