No I don't think it's possible to fly too fast that it won't generate the boss bar. That's not how it works, i.e. once the chunk is generated, a command block goes off and spawns the boss

In order to use OptiFine, follow the steps below:
For 1.16.5 Forge: Remove Magnesium and Dynamic Lights Reforged, add OptiFine HD U G8 to the mods folder.
For 1.18.2 Forge: 1.18.2 comes with Oculus that gives you Shaders with 90% less load times. If you want to use Optifine then remove the Oculus, Rubidium and Dynamic Lights Mods then add Latest 1.18.2 OptiFine to the mods folder.
Optifine Issues are not Supported in the Github however it shouldn't be an issue asking in the Discord for help.

I've not played fabric! So I can't comment on that. But there is some crossover between mods for fabric and forge (a lot of YUNG's mods have been ported both to fabric and forge).
Hard to say, but if a group of you are looking for a server, arguably best to look at 1.16.5 servers, purely because they're "older" so those servers wouldn't need updating as frequently as 1.18.2 is. If that makes sense?

I enjoy bettermc, but feel like another "big" mod could be added to help give the non combat people something to get into. There's plenty of dungeons and bosses, but I'd love to have just 1 of those old 1.12 mods that were sprawling-think thaumcraft, forestry- to get into. Don't use optifine it messes with some textures
Rubidium and oculus are compatible and what I currently recommend
But if you're dead set on optifine, make sure magnesium isn't in the pack. Then normal steps for optifine installation
