You're all good, I'm the one that led you on the whole java install because I misunderstood that the server did actually launch, but even then, it's always good to be on the same java as the mc version is, prevents any random issues that may occur

And java 8 is still LTS as opposed to 9 which is EOL

Just tested out the new patch for Simple Storage on a new world, on latest Forge Pack. Seems to work now. At miminum doesn't crash the server/world when I place the root block anymore. Exciting. The patch version for Simple Storage is 1.18.1-1.5.3 . Gunna go try it on my old save. Sadly, I didn't back up my original with all the stuff I accrued but I guess I just have to play some more haha.

Hello, I'm experiencing a server crash when trying to explore a specific chunk. Is there somewhere I can post the crash log? I'm not sure how to fix it.

Hello, I am the MOD DEV of one of the mods in Better Minecraft 1.18.1. I am the Developer of “Simply Soul Cages” and I just wanted to make it clear that Obtaining Spawners has been changed. As of 1.0, all you have to do is just Mine the Spawners and you’ll get an Empty Cage. Right click the Empty Cage with a Spawn Egg and “Presto” you got a new Soul Cage with your mob inside it, if you want to obtain the SpawnEgg in a Spawner all you have to do is Crouch+RightClick on a Spawner with a Chicken Egg and the Egg will turn into the SpawnEgg that belongs to the Spawner and the Cage will become Empty.

Hmm, well first test without OF, 120 fps avg in some biomes, others 180 fps, overall tho, no real lag spikes. Specs for reference is 10gb/32gb ram, 2060S, i7-9700F. Second test with OF, FPS has way more fluctuation and I got more TPS spikes than without OF. Might be OF causing lag spikes.

I mean, plenty can use 1.16.5 without any performance issues, and the same seems to be for 1.18.1, it's just performance on 1.18.1 isn't as good due to the lack of performance mods on that version atm

my friend who plays on a mac also was able to run it (1.16) somewhat stable

I run 1.18 on my laptop modded and everything. Turn down simulation distance and render distance and that may help. I have all my graphics turned to minimal or off but hey it works and its playable

please dont just say "latest forge version" in the readme file, give me the exact information which one is needed because the "latest" can be everything, if i use this modpack in 400 years the latest version of forge is probably not the same as the one when it was released

The recipe book has been disabled by Fastbench's config.
In the config folder is a fastbench.cfg file, make it look like below:

If I remember correctly, you can find it in little buildings around the world that have a gatekeeper. There should be a ladder upstairs where the portal will be. You have to buy the thing to light it from the gatekeeper.
