Hey guys, having an issue on 1.18.1 v6. Server constantly crashes when loading only new parts of the world (adventuring). I can crash it everytime. Doesn't matter how many people are on. I've done it by myself everytime. Also what mod dynamically changes the server's view distance. In the server console I see it constantly saying changing view distance to xx and will even go past 10 chunks even though in server properties 10 is set for view distance. (Server running on a 3900x with 8GB of ram allocated to the instance and running on an nvme ssd.) Thanks in advance peeps!

Hm, I was about to say the modpack was broken for me and ask what to do, then all I had to do was unadd all of the resource packs and add them back again and it worked

having issues with my server crashing everytime we ride in a vehicle (horse/boat/etc) first it will say that XXX moved too fast then we'll start having slingbacks and then it'll full crash with our ram revving up to like 98-100% usage. Server will then not respond at all to a restart or stop - we have to force restart and lose progress. Server is a little over 6 gbs, do we need more? I'm really stumped about what causes it to crash over and over and not allowing a restart. Anyone have any clue as to what could be causing this? I turned both chunks and sim chunks down to 7/8. my server support seems to think the issue is a mod called carryon. Removed carryon and still having crashes so that's not the issue.

But yeah, either way, the performance part of optifine can be done with magnesium on forge. Shaders need to wait for Lilac (forge port of iris) to see if that ever gets done, and there's some various other mods to get the features like zoom and no fog, etc

It might actually be one of the quests for the nether.

Oh, there is a quest to defeat an Awful Ghast.

And its says they spawn in Awful Dungeons found in the Soul Sand Valleys or Warped Forests

The Keeper Castles and Awful Dungeons might look similar but they should be fairly easy to spot on the map unless the Dungeon is hidden underground as I have only found the former.

Sometimes things get hidden under the lower and higher layers of the Nether when being printed on the map but if you look closely and check the Y level with your mouse cursor you can figure out where most things are but for the most part everything is usually easy to see.

(The map won't show you things in the ceiling or foundation levels but there won't be structures there most likely and if so extremely rare I wager.)

that means that the server could not open, that message shows up whenever the server stops, it is there so you can read the log before closing the window

but not the server one

there are multiple mods in my folders that are like that

hard to understand what youre asking, but 6 gigs of ram should be okayish? just try different amounts until it works

Correct, because curseforge automatically downloads necessary dependencies. Servers require the operator to look up and manually install dependencies.

Client is the thing that plays minecraft. Server is the thing that hosts the world and lets everyone play together. Client-only mods should only be installed in curseforge.

I'm not thinking that's what they did. I think they copied all the mods over when I told them the dependencies don't auto download for added server mods like they do on client.

They said the server was running fine beforehand.

yes in the beginning, and I downloaded the server pack off the curseforge launcher which is why I wasnt talking because I had to search for it

but I was told mods wouldn't affect anything so I downloaded extra mods
