It's possible that it work, i read on the official mc forum post and the author write that "RTG doesn't chage caves, it only change density and frequency"
might work by default or might not work at all, difficult to tell

by default there is way less caves so you might want to increase this number if you want the same 1.18 cave experience

the original SSN filters are relatively minimalistic unless I missed sth. Can only whitelist/blacklist very specific blocks/items. I wanted to filter using specific item tags or mods but it doesn't seem to be possible in that case

I am on Better MC Forge 1.16.5 (Current) I have created a few different worlds all with the default loadout (Caves and Cliffs). I have emptied more than one chunk in all of these worlds from top to bottom. I have found nearly no iron at all in all the instances of doing this. I have installed no extra mods and I've found metric crap tons of gold where i would expect to find iron

Just from recent personal experience, you also want to have the owner go to their windows firewall and make sure all instances of Java and Minecraft are allowed access. I spent a day trying to get a server working for me and my spouse, I had everything right but the port forwarding wasn't letting anyone connect to me because Windows was blocking it without me knowing.

Go to Windows Firewall, find the advanced settings and go to inbound rules. There should be a big list of things with either a green checkmark, red blocked symbol, or blank. Anything that says Java on it (java platform, SE binary etc) or says Minecraft needs to be enabled. If it's blank by it, click on it and select enable rule, it'll allow it access. If it's marked as blocked, click on the item, then click properties below the enable/disable rule option. It'll bring up the general tab for properties first, giving you a name and description along with the rule settings. Right below the description will be a section that says actions, and you'll change that from block the connection to allow the connection, which will change the rule and should swap it from a blocked symbol to a green checkmark on the list, indicating it's allowed through the firewall.

Do this for every available instance of Java or Minecraft, and if you have all the port forwarding stuff figured out already, chances our it'll be what your problem was and should allow others to connect to your server through Java, while having previously been blocked by your firewall settings.

I tried everything in my router settings and was going crazy messing with port forwarding and my server address etc, and it turned out this was all I'd needed to fix.

Motchens better leaves is a reascource pack that does some laggy stuff might wanna turn that off and put in the no bushy leaves

Ok I have figured out how to add it but now whenever I launch it my games just crashes. Is this normal?

Also optifine is only really worth it if you want shaders or dynamic lights

I just read the past messages and about taking 15 minutes to load optifine, is there really no better alternative for shaders on forge?

do you mean extra mods on top of bm forge? if so, no. So far I've installed curseforge, then bm forge 1.17.1, and then dragged and dropped the optifine .jar into the bm forge 1.17.1 mods folder

of optifine? I'm using OptiFine_1.17.1_HD_U_G9.jar

Is there some other step I'm missing? you really just install the modpack and put the optifine .jar in the mods folder and thats it?

That's it, although it takes ages for it to startup with optifine

assuming you can actually select and load the shaders without crash

just wait for it when it freezes it took 7 minutes for mine to startup

and I got mc on 4000 mb/s ssd

after I select the modpack and try to start it it instantly crashes and gives me exit code 0. it spends not time loading or freezing

could be java issue on your end, did you try gdlauncher method?

like uninstalling java completely and letting gdlauncher install it

make sure to delete the leftover files of java in %appdata% as well
