Gameplay tips for Forge 1.16.5 Part 1 (credit to @autumn arch for most of this)
• You start with a quest book listing major goals. Click the icons to show info and claim rewards. Move your mouse left to expand the list of chapters.
You can ditch the book. Can bind 'Open Quests' to a key or use the book icon top left of inventory screen.
• The advancements menu also contains info about available features.
• The JEI interface (to the right w/ inventory open) is your best friend. Search "@modname" to look up items for a specific mod.
• Mouse over an item and press U to see its uses or R to see its recipes.
• Press N to toggle the minimap and M to show the world map. Right click or press B in the world map to set waypoints.
• For extra storage, craft a backpack and open it with B. Backpacks can be dyed, receive modifications and upgrades.
• Backpacks can also be placed (shift right click) and used like chests. Holds up to 121 stacks at netherite tier. They can also connect to the Simple Storage Network.
• Sleeping bags let you skip the night without resetting your spawn point.
• Sneak-mine with an axe on the bottom log of a tree to chop it down.
• When holding a block, a cursor like <+> means the block will be placed on the same level. [+] means it will be placed below.
• Craft a nature's compass to easily find biomes.
• Waystones can be found or crafted. Once placed and discovered, a waystone can be teleported to with the warp stone item.

Gameplay tips Part 2 (credit to @autumn arch for most of this)
• Sneak-right click a chest, spawner, or mob with an empty hand to pick it up. Small mobs can be captured by sneak-right clicking with a cage/jar.
• Craft warp plates to setup an easy mob transport system, or to get a spawner back to your base. (craft 2 and swap crystals from them to pair them)
• Villagers will follow a block of emerald
• Vein Mining is a powerful enchantment letting you mine multiple blocks at once. Sneak to mine individual blocks.
• Dying leaves behind a corpse that can be looted. Corpses won't despawn and are void-proof! You can bind a hotkey to Open Player Death History.
• Crops can be harvested with right click.

hey i have a host and im hosting better minecraft 1.16.5 v 41 i dont have any experience running a server with modpacks but i have a lot of experience running it plugins etc is there anyway i can add plugins to a better minecraft server ?

did you see the minecraft version it says for g9 when you downloaded it?

you need older version for 1.16

says added compatibility for forge

so need to use the preview 1.17 optifine

yep my bad you said g9 and i thought that was preview

ye preview versions will work but 2nd time you run it with optifine it might crash. you'll have to uninstall 'fancy menu' and 'drippyloading screen'

ummmm question so i downloaded the better minecraft FORGE 1.16.5 from CurseForge but my game stops responding when its loading up and crashes..
it goes to freezing date on the bottom left and a minute into that it just freezes

1.17.1 doesnt have quests.. or a lot of other things

hence the 'beta' tag etc

play 1.16.5 which has the 1.17 caves

but I know that optifine makes it take like 8 minutes to load and if you touch anything it will crash

it will be less then 5 minutes but im saying that so you dont try and click after 1 minute which will brick it

even without it if you click away and back in the loading process you can brick it entirely

just give it time, it gets thru

only use optifine if you need shaders or dynamic lighting and cant live without it

otherwise if you just need performanc eboost, go halogen route as in #faq
