Been a while, but i'd like to anwser anyway because it's probably something that people face a lot when trying to setup a forge server on a GNU/Linux system

When installing Forge via the official Forge installer,
the exception:

java.awt.HeadlessException: 
No X11 DISPLAY variable was set,

mean that the program tried to display something on screen but couldn't find a way to do it.
You don't really need a screen, everything is doable with some extra parameters. In that case you can use only the --installServer= parameter:
exemple: java -jar forge-1.16.5.jar --installServer=/home/minecraft/server/bmcp/

After that you can run the minecraft_server.1.16.5.jar file direcly via java -jar (don't forget optimisation flags) or you can do a small bash script so it's a lot cleaner.

PS:
If you know what you are doing you could also setup X11Forwarding in your ssh demon config (/etc/ssh/sshd_config) to forward Graphic information to your pc through SSH (need a compatible X server)

Looks like laptop graphics card? I'm willing to bet that's the bottleneck

I have a macbook and a desktop both with almost idenitcal GPU specs, and because the macbook card is optimized for laptops it crawls when I try to play bigger modpacks. The desktop handles the same packs just fine. There are other things at play of course (cpu being the biggest one). But integrated laptop GPUs just don't perform very well for modded minecraft.

I would say your best bet is to try out optifine and see how it runs.

Desktop but still Integrated graphics. Haven’t gotten a graphics card yet, mainly because of the painful shortage going on because of covid. Most other modpacks I can run decently though which is weird. This one in particular just can’t run one bit. Also 16GB of ram

And yeah most of the time I put optifine in all modpacks I play. But I know it’ll be buggy with this one so I don’t know if it’ll be worth it or not

The only other thing you could try is disabling performant. Some structures in the pack don't play nice with it.

if you did disable it I would def recommend something like optifine to take its place though

Primarily I think optifine causes problems in TF if you are using shaders (which I am not)

but with quark and a sticky piston you can move the lectern with a lever and it resets immediately

its going to be random, cos thats just how minecraft works. ive found 2500 blocks is a rough estimate for where everyone seems to start finding the stuff that isnt directly around their spawn

if you played an older version of the pack like.. below v30, the spawn rate was definitely changed. youre meant to explore and discover

The skulk stuff is useless

But you can find reg ores like diamond

But most of the mobs are like 1to2 shots me

Yeah it depends on the structure... Some are designed to be earlier game and others are even tough with full netherite gear

And I couldn’t craft some of the stuff

If you can get the feeding upgrade for your backpack that helps immensely

Keeps you from dying all the time
