I've figured it out. Here's what I did:

Downloaded the server installer .jar and ran it on a windows machine to download all the components into a folder.
Followed the instructions in the README and moved Mods Folder, Configs Folder, run.bat, server-icon and server.properties, scripts and data packs into the new folder made in previous step.
Moved the folder with all components onto my headless linux server using SCP (could use filezilla or whatever you want)
Edited the run.bat in nano, removing the 2nd line that says PAUSE and renaming the script to run.sh
chmod +x the run.sh script
sudo ./run.sh

You can try completely uninstalling then reinstalling Java, otherwise I don't know why it would crash on startup

My issue is that my server has no desktop environment so it was unable to launch the forge installer where you pick Client or Server installation. I had to run it on a machine with a GUI, then move everything over to the server

Yeah it's more of a vanilla+ modpack so you got your usual vanilla farms

The only thing I've seen is using spikes to kill mobs but that yields no player drops or xp

I'm running under the assumption that the proximity voice chat runs through the server, and not through some third party application?

• restarting the server
• looking up various guides, but none of them seem to be applicable

Well the mob cap is probably blocking your amount of enderman… spawning… and 2nd off 200 blocks off main island isn’t far enough

300-350 is usually the distance u want to go if ur building a void farm

As you see this was my farm

It’s a 300x300 circle

Even when all players sit on the main island we still detect enderman spawning

I'm having a lot of issues setting up proximity voice. I'm running the OTV version of the pack which uses mumble link, have the mumble client, and also have murmur

but I haven't been able to successfully remotely connect to the murmur server

I can connect through localhost on the same machine, but am unable to connect to the murmur server from a different machine (which is what's needed for proximity unless I'm mistaken)

also i'm not sure which port I should be using for murmur. I currently have it set to the same port as the minecraft server, is that fine or does mumble need to have its own port?

i ended up having the same issue even after that with miscoloring so i removed better foliage and used falling leaves and the stay true resource pack to replace it

Optifine shouldn't be causing you crashes unless you were being impatient with the minecraft trying to optimize everything

that shows whether or not you are muted through the in-game voice call feature. the keybind to enable it is one of the letter keys on the keyboard (i'm not sure which). try searching it up or pressing random keys.

anyone know how to hatch an aether dragon egg? ive been putting it down in a house above Y170, and the egg turns red from green after a minute or two. Ive checked FTB's wiki and it says to leave it for 20 mins and it will hatch. nothing has happened

shot in the dark, but any idea why villagers would be taking ~1 minute to take a job? i'm on v18, but i swear i've not seen this issue before, and for some reason it's become consistent.

What I did was:

Place it down in the open, right click and wait awhile for it to hatch (went adventuring in the meantime). Maybe give it a bunch of space around it, as I don’t recall my aether egg ever changing colour.

After it hatches into a baby, wait ~1 IRL hour for it to grow into an adult. In the meantime, gather some raw cod/salmon to tame it with. Once its an adult, you can tame it with the fish and put a saddle on it.

I do deep dark. The underground in the overworld's hollowed out enough that finding a chunk where potential diamond-spawning didnt get replaced by air is nearly impossible

ive read other info googling saying i need to make a house above Y170 in the plains biome to hatch it (above the clouds). wait 20 mins for the egg to hatch. the the same info wtih feeding raw fish. but need to feed it for 3 in game days. my issue is with it changing color which is weird. it turns into a lava-palate looking egg. but if i pick it up, it will turn back to the aether-green

Hm my friends and I didn't really do that - my first dragon I hatched in a mountains biome at Y77, while others hatched in a plains at the 60s-Y region though. 3 in game days is correct (apparently it translates into about 1 hour IRL time if you don't sleep? worked about right for me)

But it just had the first crash of the day, 8 hours in to this trange occurance
