Why pick Fighter, when there is Bard that gives more Attack Damage than Fighter and gives spell access? or for that matter, Paladin, that gives same health scaling and gives spell access?

Races are the one thing I like, very unfair, just as they should be.

Feats are static boosts as well, which is like a drop in the ocean when you reach higher levels and your equipment have like 50+ attack damage + a ton of other things.

Feats are useful early, but due to lack of scaling or % based buffing, they become lackluster as you progress.

Note to server owners: installing Entity Culling boosted my server from 8 - 15tps average on 17 players to 17+ average! Been working with muon and finding fixes to performance, also enabled a lot of ServerCore config options.

It doesn't matter, Rogue Assassin gives you access to Rhaspody.

Melee Classes just don't currently matter. Their impact is just so minimal currently, its all about what you have access to in regards to spells.
The extra damage Way of Shadow gives at Nighttime is useful early on, same for the extra attack damage from Rogue Assassin.

Essentially, this is due to lack of scaling Class features & Feats. Making any Spellcaster, scale based on what spells they got access to, which be how Spellcasters scale in DnD.

Our modpacks don't support any mods that add singleplayer hosting / world sharing because we already provide free world sharing. The 'Essential' mod is therefore incompatible.

Transferring Your World

Class-based spell restrictions for utility spells feels really bad, imo.

I get it from an immersion standpoint, but what you end up with is half of your group has access to sub-3-second CD practically infinite teleports, 2-minute-long elytra wings, placeable portals that can be made permanent with portal frames, recall spells, etc, all as early as Chapter 1.

And then you have the other half of the friend group who would love to use all of that QoL to explore as easily as the first half, but they can't because their class says so. They have to run along miles behind the rest of the group and beg for pity portals to keep up. They don't get to see 90% of the map because the other half of the group has already traveled there and just wants to fight the boss and not wait on you.

Spell restrictions should limit which schools of magic you can use for any offensive spells, but utility spells should be available to everyone.

(this feels especially bad on Eldritch Knight, because that class used to have access to all spells, but now is specifically only locked out of utility (and healing) spells)

No I get that, and even said I understand it from the immersion "this is DnD" perspective.

But that doesn't stop it from feeling awful and not fitting at all with how Minecraft and this mod pack does exploration and campaign progression - namely, a hell of a lot of searching different world maps.

The nature of the utility spells - flight, teleportation, static portals, etc - makes them very strong QOL for literally just progressing the campaign story.

If the utility spells are going to be so hyper focused on making exploration and travel easier in a mod pack whose entire campaign is centered around travelling around different realms, then locking these QOL upgrades behind specific classes does nothing but say "either all of you pick a class that can use these spells, or some of you are not going to have a good time".

And I get it, if you want to use the spells, just pick a class that can use them. But what if you really want the roleplaying/identity of a different class? Why should your experience progressing the campaign be forced to be so much worse because you are locked out of some of the biggest QoL items in the entire modpack?

Reforging, healing, etc aren't directly linked to progressing the main campaign in the way that travelling (flight, teleportation, portals) is.

It also isn't divisive within a group of players in the way that travelling is.

If someone can reforge, they can reforge for the whole group.

If someone can heal, they can heal for the whole group.

You can't fly for the whole group.

Because those utility spells, are typically ones you'd first have when you are like level 12 or 16, around there.

The issue as I mentioned, is that spellcasters have access to what would be 'high level' spells, at a low level and that makes everything feel sucky for those that don't have access to that kind of thing.
Spellcasters would get those spells later on, as its part of what makes a spellcaster, a spellcaster. You can't ever compare to being able to straight up rip space-time apart and go instantly from A to B, that just isn't it.

And why shouldn't it be different? The point of classes is that difference. Non-spellcasters can still use scrolls though, it would just be really, really expensive on your part to mass produce the utility ones.
