for now it's short enough that it stays on paper but talking about it made me think of starting an excel

OOOO that's nice! taking ur notes on paper helps you with handwriting, and taking them on excel will help you out when you need to find something quickly, so I hope u choose the one that caters more to your needs/preferences you can always do both, but that may take a lotta time and effort
