From my understanding, the claim stakes are placed on a planet and give you 'land plots'. You then place buildings like mining drill or power plant in these plots to create / extract resources. But not all buildings are available now, for example the building creating food is missing. Then you have a space station to transfer / trade the resources you produced.
But this is just my understanding, there is a lot of explanation in the whitepaper and economics paper.

There are two types: Land on a Central Space Station (CSS) for player housing and the "slots" a claim stake on a planet has to build buildings on.

Mining drills and power plants are structures that will be a part of your claim stake, so to use them, you would need a claim stake, but there is not much use for them right now.

Imo, your best best is to buy ships, or polis (the goverance token) and just start building up your stakable assets.

that is just an opinion, and others may disagree, but this is how I am approaching it.

If you use a ledger you Don't import the seed phrase. Just connect it.and approve a 0 sol txn.

If you want to use an existing hot wallet, then yes import the seed, but this option isn't my preference.

If you don't have a ledger the best and safest thing you can do is create a new wallet, and transfer your ship into it while you use the showroom, then send it back.

Progress in showroom doesn't count for anything yet. This is still a pre alpha early access game.

Does Star Atlas team believe in their project? Well, if people know that lets say star atlas will not go down beyond certain levels they can bet on the long market (bullish), and as if we know if everyone is betting on the bullish the demand will go up further raising the price of the crypto token. Hello. In my Sage game, I see the five ships that have already despawned, as well as my Atlas back in my inventory. However, the ships are still on the map. When I try to move them, it says "Failed," and the same happens when I click on "Despawn" - it says "Failed." I have tried everything, but I have been unable to find a solution on how to get rid of those ships. Please help.

There are programs that can go through your transactions

if you're talking about things like cointracker, they have the same problem and report these transactions as transactions with missing data, requiring me to complete it. when they see outflow of X atlas from solana and then inflow of 2 ships, they don't necceseraly know to attribute this to that because it shows in different lines and at differnt times on the ledger. my onlyhope is if the game actually held that information

just as another example, if i sent a ship to stake on the faction fleet, no external coin tracker software willknow if i sold it or staked it. this is just one example that the tax-related data is actually un-trackable except by the game.

i just wonder how any of the pther people here have dealt with their 2022 taxes like that

would be sad to leave the game just as its getting interesting, just because i can't properly produce info to the tax report, which puts me at legal risk. I wish the game could have a solution for that.
