The high cost of solana txn is one of the main reasons we move to z.ink soon (it isnt to high and was ok for a long time, usually like 0.000005 sol, but star atlas does a lot of txn, so it adds up)

also there is token account costs

What is "rent" on Solana?
On Solana, every account (including wallets, token accounts, and smart contract storage) takes up space on-chain. That space costs something — and that cost is called “rent.”
How does rent work?
Solana doesn’t charge rent continuously like a subscription. Instead, it requires a minimum amount of SOL to be held in an account to make it "rent-exempt."
Think of it like a security deposit that you leave in the account to keep it alive.
If your account has enough SOL, it’s rent-exempt — it stays forever unless deleted.
If it has too little SOL, it could be reclaimed (i.e. deleted) to free up space on the network.
What’s a Token Account?
Every time you want to hold a new type of token (like USDC, ATLAS, any nft/sft etc.), you need a token account for it — even if it's all in the same wallet.
Each token account is a separate address and requires ~0.002 SOL to be rent-exempt (this varies a bit with network upgrades).
Reclaiming Rent
If you close a token account (like when you remove all its tokens), you can reclaim the SOL used for rent — which is a nice feature compared to other chains.

so in your case you probably received the resources

like food fuel and so on and you interacted the first time with it on that wallet

so it needed to create a token account

every next claim you do should be just a normal txn

if in the future you would have none of these token (fuel food etc) in your wallet anymore you could close the token accounts and get the rent fee 0.002 back

every nft sft and token needs these accounts

an exemption would be cnft these have a much cheaper account cost

but again we move to z.ink soon and all these costs or rent costs should get much much cheaper

after we moved we can close all these rent accounts and get our solana back

so simple conclusion the 0.008 is probably 4 new token rent accounts (food, fool, ammo, toolkits in your wallet so these tokens can interact with solana, everytime from now on you dont need to pay this coz you have the rent account in your wallet.)

I also have phantom, so there's many moving parts in my head and as @late condor states I also remember being in that sage system.

Hi , Yesterday It happens again , i worked hard for 20 days , cause i miss the last ic distribution, i wait checking quantum contract to be ready , Yesterday was the time in stopped everything to have enough transport cargo to do It quick , i set my atom route and finally After a Irl day of work i rush to home to get my reward.... Ic was running low very quick so when i dropped my last cargo to mrz29 i run to the local market to sell my 80000 IC and have my 20 days worked payed, really near bedtime for me, i check the Total 159000 Atlas and i hit the sell button , and than ....and than i realized for the second time , the First time was some months ago and for quite few Atlas so ii didnt hurt like this time, someone has used this game to play with someone other time... Im a long time player , ive lost countless cargo on SC due to players pirates or cause i crash my ship while landing, but this Is different i don't want to use word i Will regret to use so i Will only Say this was unfair ....setting a 0.002 price for the ic Is clearly a trap to have the total missed from 100000 to 100,000 this Is not fair and if atmta use the IC system to give Atlas to player i think It Is something near to a governament contract and must be under atmta control ....today Is not a good day for me have a nice day Hope Will be a good day for you all

Dont use the mid market pricing ever, go into the contract, look at the contract buy order you are selling to. Confirm its the proper one. This can be avoided completly. I do agree that mid market pricing is confusing, but as with anything else in the crypto space, you should always verify what you are doing before hitting accept. Stay safe friend, and always look at the specific order

Players use the low buy orders for trading since there is no trade system. Its not always malicious as you say.

Taking the ability to place low buy orders hurts the trade scene more than saves people grief. The real issue is the mid market price. IMO we should just get rid of it and force all players to go in and look at the purchase order they are selling to

There are many malicious offers on the market, and some of them are made from known players, also, I checked player profiles. Not good at all. In some cases I made also notice the player, and obviously i have being told it was a "mistake". I wonder why mistakes are almost always one zero more, instead than the opposite.
