It's not needed anymore, every ship will have a gameplay loop in the game once they introduce combat.

Faction Fleet was never meant to be there forever

You can rent your fleets to active players to still get some sort of passive income out of it

Faction Fleet was introduced in 2021 as an early staking mechanic to give users some utility for their ships.
Over time, as more of the actual game was developed — including multiple iterations of SAGE, a fully on-chain RTS — rewards gradually shifted away from Faction Fleet to incentivize players to engage with the real gameplay.
The rewards for Faction Fleet were reduced multiple times to nudge players toward SAGE, and now we even have fleet rentals, giving players a passive option to earn without relying on the old staking system.
Many in the community have wanted Faction Fleet to be phased out for a long time — and now that the ecosystem has grown, it makes sense to finally shut it down.

I don't have the latest numbers on the faction fleet, but if it's still profitable, then just barely. The good thing about the fleet rentals is that you just need the ships and crew; the rest is the problem of the renter.

You can use the option Tools->Settings->Fleets/RSS->Transports unload unknown RSS
Then it can't happen again. There is a similar setting for miners.
And if you use a lancer wallet, I would suggest to import your wallet key, so SLYA can sign the transactions by itself. Solflare often causes problems when doing thousands of TXs or when it gets force-updated by Chrome.
And there is a SLYA standalone version, so you can even get rid of the browser and Tampermonkey.
