yes that is possible, but is that what we are discussing now ? I thought you were upset because your fees right now are high, I would argue they are lower than they were yesterday. Congestion sucks, to be sure, but fees are still within reasonable range. If you have 50 fleets, of course your SOL will get drained, but that's because you have 50 fleets, not because tx costs are high.

tx costs will always be a pain point with this game, tbh, no fee amount will ever be low enough, that much is certain.

I hope they are brainstorming ways to get rid of fees altogether, adoption will be very hard otherwise.

That order I opened directly in play.staratlas, where I should have been able to see it in My Orders tab but didn't. I have since cancelled the order in CSS (as strangely, it appears there). I have then reopened an order through CSS, which appears in CSS but not in play.staratlas. It would seem that my orders are only appearing in CSS but not in play.staratlas no matter whether I have opened them in CSS or playstaratlas.

btw, tip for anyone using local marketplace, good practice if buying to always check the price of 1 unit, as the price shown on the UI is a mid price, not an actual sell order price. It would be easy for non-savvy users to make mistakes, and buy big quantities for a price they were not willing to pay. always check the price of one unit before buying the batch. Another thing to bear in mind, is that it could fill from multiple orders, so even after checking the price of 1 unit, if you buy alot, the average price per unit might go up, so it would be good practice after you enter your full amount, to do the division calculation to check the price per unit if it is in fact the price you want. Just some local marketplace tips for those not aware.

Usually dev companies will have downtime during updates like this, considering all game features are still operational, bar a few of the new updates, I would say the overall experience is not the worst. They could have easily said something like "maintenance, downtime for 8 hours" and the end result would probably be worse than a few bugs and glitches here and there that need troubleshooting from their end. That is just my personal take on it, keeps me from going insane in times like this.

what fees are you referring to ? SDU scanning has become a much more viable loop for smaller players with the recent update to SDU mechanics, something every smaller player should look at in terms of playing the game without sinking in fees.

The latest updates with local markets is all about the smaller players. You can now sell resources without hauling anything. And SDUs are SUPER profitable and don't require much in terms of ships and no crafters needed. No idea what you are refering to.

If anything, this update is for smaller players much more than whales.
Whales will still make more Atlas by upgrading bases. While smaller players now don't need freighters, at all. No more fuel costs, no more extra transactions (sol fees), no more need to split fleets, or mine innefficiently just to be able to haul stuff back to CSS.

Also, RFRs (or whatever name) is not intended to be exploited by buying stuff to craft. The entire premise behind it is to spread activities across the entire map, and incentivise local trading. Once prices settle, I suspect there will be many opportunities to buy those material at lower prices in different bases. And then you can optimize your operations towards that.

The old easy way of "buy all, craft, profit" is gone. Gladly.

Smaller players should especially be starting to think about specializing in one specific aspect of the game. That is how they will make the most moeny. There needs to be a mindshift change.

If a smaller player is just buying, crafting, installing or selling, they are playing the game in the worst way possible for a smaller player, considering that we now have several game loops that are actually quite profitable for the smaller player.

provided everything you said is true, the one piece of missing data is that whales suffer from diminishing returns due to not being able to always stay optimized. It is much easier for a smaller player to always be optimized.

You couldn't be more wrong on the last part. Break-even point got severely lowered with the last scanning update. Scanning is now doable with much smaller fleets, and are profitable. Even more now, that you can buy food/fuel remotely, and eliminate the need to restock at CSS.

Will a smaller player make a little less because of market fee discount from locker? Yes. Will he/she/them break even? Hell yeah.

Disagree. Not sure what Faction you are in, but MRZ-20 in ONI is buying SDU's at a 10% discount to market (not MUCH less). And because it is in close proximity to the center of the map the fuel burn costs are cheaper. And now with local markets you can also buy food right there and cut down on your travel time. SDUs are also VERY profitable so yeah, they definitely have a net return.

With all due respect I don't know your Fleet, but do some number crunching and/or play in EVEEYE to see the best returns. These latest patches are all about the small player.

one thing is super important about local markets, liquidity is going to be prevalant at the hubs, so check eveeye, check which starbases have the most crew, and start your ops there. Check other sectors for buy/sell orders, and see if there are arbitrage opportunities. always have a base of operations, otherwise you'll go nuts.
