example - mrz-21 was upgraded to tier 2 today, but the pool is still 2 021 000. So next epoch after the upgrade it should be 2 028 000

about the mechanics I do think that the atlas is set asside early during the epoch so that any changes in the atlas reward will happen in the next epoch (note that when you put lp in it says rewards pending)
try this, it usually works for me:
- Close all instance of browser running Sage
- Wait 5 min and clear dns cache ( you can google how to do that )
- Open private tab of the browser ( so no browser cache from before ) and open sage, check if it is alright.
I have a feeling that starcom runs in separate small instances and sometimes one of them gets a bit "stuck". So the steps are in order to attempt to connect to another instance that is not stuck. But I am just doing some wild guessing here, totally not sure if it will work

So I had no clue when I first discovered star atlas, specifically SAGE, stumbled my way through without guides or researching, liked it but was like eh, I'm to poor to play this game (like most others), sold my couple ships and all r4 & r9, and moved on. Then got bored and came back, rebought everything in again, played a bit then it got really wonky trying to play in phantom on mobile, sold everything again. Kept hearing of the AAA Star Atlas, wondering wtf is this, bro..I only just now read the like 30pg WP, just learned about the Epic Games version, and now I'm wondering whats the cheapest route shipwise (2 maybe 3 XXS) and if its possible to craft the Maxhog or Mamba EX and not spend an arm and a leg to get a fleet going to sustain my playing and be able to progress and grow simultaneously

With 3 XXS you will never craft a mamba ex before they run out of supply

Honestly for a really small player in the current state of the game forget about crafting ships or even participating in the upgrades of stations to earn ATLAS. Between all the fees and the necessary logistics it's impossible.
Your best bet is to join a guild and setup a deal with someone to buy raw materials from you, easiest is hydrogen you can just mine it 24/7 at the central space station without traveling and sell that.
Can also go back to faction fleet and earn that way.

You need not only ships and ressources to mine but you also need transport ships and crew members to craft. And you need to have the good ratio of miners/transporters/crafters of you want to run a profitable operation building components and upgrading stations.

I’d recommend looking into the SLY’ assistant it’s a automation tool, it’s not been audited by the team but the majority of people here use it
Faction fleet is depreciated and isnt worth keeping ships there imo, better off just mining hydro
Sustainability at decent intro price is where it keeps losing me. I just want to drop like $50-$100 initially, then with that build up, you know, mine, scan, trade, then reinvest slowly build then sell fleet buy bigger class ship, repeat. But that doesn't look possible
Well, i'd be lying if I said the entry price is low. Currently the entry barrier is one of the main issues the team is working to solve. Mostly due to transaction fees. I hope they can figure it out soon.

also just the split of crew and possibly components would make that even better with more stuff to do added to starbased
Imo, just open up 1 or 2 ships per class for crafting instead of just the Maxhog and Mamba ex. That way a fleet of like 2 or 3 xxs can make 5 more xxs then the fleet can get enough r9 to craft a xs, have burn function for the other ships for Atlas/still trabeable if decide not to burn or use with xs, then repeat and grow. You will outgrow the fee barrier and stimulate economy, growth, and starbase upgrade/expansion all with one crafting implementation
also now that no food is needed to craft smaller players can do that to earn
while i agree with you, there isn't much to "play" right now per se, but I hear you.
I just want to not have to pay out of pocket everytime to play, I'm looming for account/gameplay sustainability compared to entry proce that makes that achievable
One thing to consider, is that these craftable ships are not inflating the ship economy, so they can't just make any ship craftable, the amounts of these ships were pre-determined years ago, and will remain this way until otherwise needed.

for mining hydro you want to try to have a cargo capacity of 20k+
ie one large fleet
not a bunch of small fleets and don't do sdu scanning

personally, if you can afford in IMP Tip, that is the best starter ship for mining, as it uses no ammunition, but there is an argument that small fighters like the Tufa Feist are a decent alternative, as you can scale with them, and they are the same class (size) ship for about 1/3 the price.

Fighters are better served as miners currently, although ideally a miner ship is just better overall, as it uses no ammo

ie the most profitable "active" thing to do is mine hydro at the css when trying to minimize the entry cost
with your setup, I would try to operate abit closer to CSS, you might find more joy this way. Personally, I wouldn't try to be self sufficient with this setup, being able to provide 1 or 2 of the R4s would be good enough for me, the rest I would just buy from marketplace (being closer to the CSS facilitates this playstyle). Then try to use your fighters more as miners (ideally about 60% of your fleet composition should be miners anyway), then about 30% should be crafters, and 10% should be haulers (can use transport or freight ships for this), ideally using warp (warp scales with bigger ships, so if you are using smaller ships for transporting, then maybe sub-warping might still be better). You should use that ship spreadsheet to kind of figure those things out.

I only use my R4 from stakes to supply fleets mining hydro at the CSS
Marketplace has always taken patience to be truly profitible anyways
note when I run low on ammo at the css I will likely bring it in
I'm burning fuel faster then my stakes will replenish it regardless, everything else is meh, also food production for crafting the stakes are too slow
Best of luck on the road....its a long one. SA is designed so that players will be incentivized to specialize. Of course you will be able to do it all, but the progression system rewards emphasis in one or two ereas
I make all my resources anyways and just sell the claimstake output for easly sol fee coverage
1 day a week and I can make more than enough R4 to run for the week

Then play around with whatever or just grind
yep mostly what I am doing (other then the fact that my css outside of fuel is still working off my stockpile from prior game loops)
I keep like 12 mill of each R4 as a backup and then just sell everything else
I always shoot for the high side tho so I wait to get paid rather than push on the offer side
I dumped a lot of tool kits because they are mostly useless for me right now otherwise yeah I make sure I have a good baseline before I sell
If crafting is your true goal you can do several things:

Buy XXS ships now, the cheaper the better. These act as crew and you can craft items. however you'll be limited to the CSS crafting and somewhat reliant on other players to supply the CSS with food. Additionally youll have to buy the materials off the markert, craft and sell for higher to make a profit.

You can wait for crew packs. You'd likely see a 15-25% increase in the ammount of crew you receive for the same money because crew packs are $5 per crew. Execute the same strategy as 1). This however, will lock you into crew crafting at the CSS unless you buy some ships in the future
css is only 50% reduction in time at worst
Life at CSS is possible for small players now
so its one of the best places to craft now outside of the locations that will be kept up
Maybe he should craft himself some Maxhogs??
With all those ships it'd only take him maybe 5-6 days or so??
He could work his way up to that, but it would be neraly impossible to mine that and craft it with $40 in ships

We tell all our players to try and get above 10,000 inventory on a fleet at the very least to be able to make decentish moves

base transaction is .000005 with a mining loop bing 6 transactions and sol costs about 170 right now so that adds up to about .0051 usd about 1.35 atlas, a full load from a single xxs ship is 249, the price of hydro is about .0003285 (lowest sell as of when I calculated this out) so that gives .08179 atlas per xxs ship so that takes 17 xxs ships just to cover the transaction costs before fuel / food /ammo is calculated in
TBH, if tx fees are the issue...then the best overhead reduction is Claimstakes...you make 1 TX every 2 -4 days
you just gotta have the patience
sell the R4, use that to compound ships or more claimstakes
TBH probably the best advice for small budget people right now
like if you only wanted to Spend 20-40 dollars on the game and never spend another real dollar again...thats probably the quickest onboarding

No problem. just bear in mind that if you are sub-warping instead of warping, you might need abit more freight, but that will need to be callibrated accordingly. That spreadsheet I shared should help with setting up your fleet optimally.

There are 5 levels of claimstakes. T1 were ike 20 dollars i believe, T2 were just north of 200 last time I checked

maybe abit less, as that estimate I gave was like a perfectly run setup. it all depends on how efficiently you can run your operation, and unfortunately, if you are mining with non-miner ships, and transporting with non-freighter ships, it can be difficult to operate at max efficiency.

note having claimstakes will help supply a starbase in the system etc but they can't do active defense of it

no clue, there were some temp stats in the previous version of showroom ( it had more components, the ones without the skins ) but I cannot rely on that being final too. You could have like a tier 2 subwarp drive from fimbul perform worse that tier 1 from rainbow in that version, but the stats could have been just placeholders.

it is old article, so no info on the ships released after that, but unless the ships has been release on higher price ( I think there was a different initial trench for Airbike that had much higher price ) then you look at the size of the component. If the size is bigger than ship than you get +1 on the component tier for that ship.
The airbikes and hero for example are exception from the rule, they get better tiers because of the initially higher price they were listed
so in theory ruch will get only t1 components

but crafting + freight, u can freight in the goods to craft to upload to starbases
and it gives u ability to snipe the higher LPs w/ not a huge investment tbh
but there is heap of options
Depends on a few factors:
- For mining raw mats - you will need some good ships, preferably miner class. Preferably you want to be able to fill a whole fleet for optimal mining
- As Jith Blade mentioned - crafting is currently the lowest entry point as you can buy raw from the market and craft them on css and sell back. Being able to run longer jobs reduces the cost of transactions compared to mining non-stop significantly. Also you don't need automation for that so it is the least time consuming game stile right now.
- Scanning - currently would not recommend for newbies, very high tax on the tx.
For the base upgrading - what @modest vault said bout the crafters and the freight
If I was new with zero knowledge of game…I’d go with mining raw material and selling till I got my feet wet

It is good as long as you are investing enough to get your initial fleet for mining right. If you have like 200-300 to check out the game, best to start with the crafters.

yeah ship lending will be key because there are a lot of whales with more ships then they can realistically use and a lot of players that need ships to start out at lower entry points

yeah, with that budget - start with airbikes or ruch for crafting, and keep some atlas so you can have enough to buy raw mats for crafting recipes. You can calculate how much you can get using the eveeye crafting calculator: https://atlas.eveeye.com/crafting/
for example you can have 20 workers and start crafting electronics from raw materials on the market. Then when you get enough crafter you can sell them and buy new mats and so on until you get enough atlas to buy another airbike. Then you get additional worker.
Keep in mind that in order to reduce the cost for tx you can go like crafting 2 days hydrogen and carbon into hydrocarbon, one day crafting copper ore into copper, 4 days crafting the electronics

with that strategy you are mostly focused on crafting and you will get familiar with movements on the mats on the market and the different recipes

Currently - this is mostly focused on users that have ledger. Also it does charge premium on tx - so unless you have some big fleets to justify the costs you are better off turning Atlas prime off
See I've wondered that because I could play for a while on 0.1 sol for gas but it seems if I use the equivalent in the atlas gas then I only get 2-5 txns
Above all else, don't use Phantom wallet for SA (for smaller players especially), unless they have fixed over charging per tx. It's robbery imo

Has anybody tried with coinbase wallet not that coinbase wallet is sol compatable?
current setup for low cost on tx is:
- Using solflare/backpack ( phantom will sometimes add higher fees that are ridiculous in my opinion )
- Using SLY Assistant automation too to control the priority fees ( mostly if you are mining scanning, you can controll the crafting from there too, but you don't need it for the fees )
- Turning off the Atlas prime feature ( if you are using it without vault it will partially refund you the rent accounts which is causing the cost to go higher than expected )
I think there is support for coinbase wallet for the DAO, but for playing Sage, best practice is to have a separate Solana wallet and use Solflare or Backpack for the interface ( if you are not using ledger )

Switching to Solflare alone, reduced my TX fees considerably, without changing play style.
I later went automated and it got even cheaper per tx.
this is just common knowledge, if you are using phantom, you are cutting into your profits, by alot.
