Current meta is mining, transporting and scanning. Seems like the ships stats are currently adjusted for that and miners have the edge because of their special utility. But other ship specializations except data runners do not have any special utility yet. So multi-role is just another ship for mining right now. Later that will change. Did you check out the roadmap yet?

Yes, I have. I haven't seen any license or "career" progression (or was it even mentioned?) for multi-role ships. I guess being multi-role, you could use it for various purposes like freight, transport, fighting and the likes. It's like a general error that you get when you don't have error handling for specific action in your code. The game crashing on authentication step however indicates that there is some problem with connecting to the server. My bet- the server will not open for incoming connections until team is ready to start the test.
