I feel compelled to comment on this topic because, after participating and taking top 1 in the Fishing category (there was Fishing, Gathering, and Grinding, and all with top 3 finishes) in a GM event on June 6th that involved collecting more Seal of Festivals in 30 minutes, I finally received the "rewards."
A +50% Life EXP scroll that doesn't even stack with anything and a title that only lasts 7 days. This is a disgrace. Plus, it made me wait almost 3 weeks for this. It's great that they have events and all, but it makes no sense that the prize is something so bad it's offensive.
My question is if there is any plan to improve events rewards, thnx for your time.

Some has bigger on spot rewards and some are on spot buffings
Bigger forum based rewards will go up to merc shops and materials. Some even bigger events like teailers and art work will rewards best players with Alienware computer items

So in your opinion, is it okay that in an event that lasts half an hour and has top 1, 2 and 3 rankings, they give you as a reward for finishing first a scroll that doesn't stack and a temporary title?
I don't think this event can be considered small, precisely.

30min long event is not long time
Not sure if that fishing event was forum posted...but they usually tell rewards in the site.
Hide and seek gm events lasts 30-60min and all players in it will get 3hr GM buffs
All events that appear in only ingame and discord are all Small events that has limits to rewards.
If rewards are bigger than that then other players will get mad and demands bigger announcement so all can join
Having 1 to 3 ranking can be a role play aspect to event
Only bad thing i see in op is that reward took so long to arrive
Also... we get GM events multiple times per week

They are announced both in-game and on this discord, and the funny thing is that people don't know when they are and you have to be attentive or active to participate. I don't think they'll be angry, rather they would finally be encouraged to participate. Most veteran players don't participate in these events because the prizes leave a lot to be desired, in fact it is always said that these events are not worth it but I always thought that people exaggerated. Being totally honest, if there are no changes to the prizes, anyone who wins is not going to participate in an event ever again.

GM events are not a income source but a fun activity for everyone
Veterans who wants optimize incomes will never leave their spots. As they pump 1-3bil silver per hour.
But some veterans will join GM events for fun and community as Wukong says.

Rank 1 in a 30min event where was less than 30 players in... not a big flex tbh
But as mentioned GM events has different rewards and they are always a quick additions to game community.
Maybe next event has better reward 
Doing community events for rewards will never be worth of the time used in it
