Hello, I'm brand new and a big draw of the game to me was Sailing and Sea Monster Hunting with my brother, so I was wondering if we could use one ship or both need our own? Also, what is the Silver per hour on Sea Monster Hunting at the beginning stages, as well as like the "top dollar" that it could be once we have really good stuff?

o/ for regular SMH you will need each your own boat, since the loot isn't shared anymore. You can do all the dailies/weekies together since monster kill count still works for all nearby party members, but only the one shooting will get the loot from them.
There are certain group SMH spots out there where you can go together, but each will need their own boat there. (Crocodiles 2 man spot, and arguably lekrashan thats officially a solo spot some people go there in groups tho)
Can't tell you much about silver per hour, it's not insanely high tho. There is a sailing discord in #community-discords which will be able to provide you with way more information.
Early on you should not expect to make any/much money per hour, the "early stages" are mostly about crafting/upgrading your boat with weeklies/dailies/bartering.

also @wheat ridge while most of sailing is solo content, there still is some group content. you can do whale groups, but that will require a matchlock, so some do not really consider it sailing content even though you are killing whales. there is also scrolls you can do, where you will get the scrolls and then party up and all of you can shoot the boat together. you can also become a sailies host later on down the road and help other players work on getting their materials, but you will carry everyone and kill the stuff on your own while everyone hangs out on your boat

Regrettably yes, most is solo content. It's still fun doing daily quests in party tho, and if you're starting from zero you will have months to literal years of content until you have everything sailing offers

Which Spot? Are there enough monsters there to continuously hunt and have fun?

saltwater crocodiles, it's one of the endgame SMH spots where you can farm your blue carrack gear (the final equipment for your final strongest boat)

also even if you don't mind loosing out on loot, all the "better" boats have it so only the one steering it can shoot the cannons, so even for that it'd require both of you to possess a ship

oh one of the most popular endgame spots is olun (there is 3 tiers to it) which also gives quite good money
it's a 3 man spot
aside from that there's dehkia turos (also 2 man, endgame)
and quite a few midgame group spots that are not over the top good but decent I'd say

Cool deal, as long as we can do some stuff together to progress together that will be fun. Do you know of any lifeskills or anything that we could do "together"? From what I know about the trading it doesn't seem like there's a way we can directly help each other?

well trading is currently disabled, so that's not a lifeskill you can do anyways
(it was solo, just that its entirely disabled rn)
I am not aware of any lifeskill that can be done in party, maybe someone else knows about it better since I personally don't really lifeskill, I am not aware of group lifeskilling tho aside from maybe hunting certain field bosses (khalk, whale, ...)

yeah there are quite a lot, sadly they usually are worse compared to solo grinding (early on and at the very very end game)

sea is dead content in this game, like 200-500m per hour on pirates blue/yellow ls.
You can do barter like 1b per day ( 5 hours semi afk ) , with carrack and 20k+ barters.
The only thing you can do in the sea > grinding Nol, you can buy it for 2m crown coins ( 1 year of bartering ) or try luck with maps in the ocean, it is like you grind 5-6h to open chest with chance 1% or 0.5%.
