Maegu is not tanky class

Shai is very tanky and has good heals on herself
But she is very boring/simple in skill pattern/combos

Guardian is very tanky also
She is more complex than shai, but still very easy class to learn

For life skilling it depends on what you are going to do, but some classes are better than others in some life skills

But in terms of solo game play which of the 3 would be better?

Guardian is the slowest pace class for sure. Maegu is very chill too. Shai propably has the highest pace.

#

Succ Maegu is definitely the general best pick. Shai is extremely good at the Endgame spots and at group content. Guardian has very big aoes and is very chill.

When you say pace do you mean action per minute example key presses in a minute or how fast it would take the class to kill something ?

succ maegu here. Maegu is really fun and has a simple combo that at most spots doing 1 ability will often kill packs depending on the spot you grind. Maegu is also really fast movement wise whereas I believe guardian and shai are much slower classes but are tankier

#

Shai's APM I believe is fairly low since she doesn't have many abilities to use nor is her combo extensive and confusing. I could not tell you about guardian however

what do you mean slowish?

#

Maegu is much faster than shai is

#

If you're talking movement that is

#

Maybe I've not seen a proper shai grind but from what I gathered of the class it's way slower as she doesn't have many movement abilities outside of her W+RMB, Shift+W

I guess you didn't read my sentence that well. And if you've played Shai and Maegu you can feel the difference in the pacing. And no I wasn't talking about movement skills. Just the feel of the classes.

winged thistle

I did read what you said and you're not making any sense

#

maegu is way faster paced than a shai is, even feeling wise

#

I have both

Succ Maegu APM is higher than Shai, yes

#

Depends on the spots really

#

Maegu can completely shred lower end spots with just her directional+LMB alone and since it has decent mobility you often don't have to worry about using her other movement abilities to reach other packs

haughty dragon

#

well you have to also take into account her mobility

#

her directional+lmb is way faster than shai's A/D+LMB

#

Shai feels very methodical in the sense that you go to a pack of mobs, do a bunch of A/D+LMB or RMB and then you're often having to either use Yippie or hop to reach the next packs.

With maegu you can clear all of that distance just by A/D+LMB alone + if you do run out of stamina you always have or W+E to clear the rest of the distance or whatever her dash attack is

#

But at higher end spots I would assume it's a similar process, just depends on how efficient you can be and execute the combos, you won't be moving as much on maegu at higher spots

#

There's absolutely a difference because OP's case would be trading the mobility and speed of maegu for the lower APM and comfort of shai, even if they both can be very effective. Could be talking out of my ass but that's generally how I've perceived playing both maegu and shai

#

But if they prefer to have a tankier class with lower apm, then shai or guardian would be the better choice for sure, not to mention the benefits being a shai brings to stuff like NW/Siege/Dungeons

yep thank you both for such great insights, just pointing out i enjoy lower apm and am looking at tankier class with lower apm overall the above discussion clears the air. Im hovering between guardian or shai right now. However for soloing is guardian or shai a better option lets just talk about early game or mid game at best im a very casual player

I don't have a guardian

#

Not really interested in those sorts of classes (valk/guardian/zerker etc)

all good thanks gloomii

No worries, hope you find the answers regarding guardian^^

Im just poking out trial longer i like all three frankly just need to figure out which is the PVE grinder

At the end of the day, you did say you have mild carpal tunnel and would prefer lower APM so shai would be my recommendation, she's also an exceptional life skiller too so it would probably suit your gameplay style better. Outside of that, it's just about what you would have most fun playing. No point playing a class you don't really enjoy or vibe with, especially if you'd be grinding for longer than like 1h sessions

#

Yeah shai is good at grinding

haughty dragon
#

Guardian is probably more fun grind with than a Shai in the long run since Guardian is more versatile. Shai is definitely better at Endgame but worse at early game.

Maybe a bit late but have you considered/tried nova? Her succession is very tanky and can be very effective with lower apm. Interesting class story which still kinda pops up now and again even so long after her release. Her awakening is the polar opposite (personally I would say it’s the class with the biggest difference between succ and awa in game) being incredibly fast paced, very high apm and quite squishy but with crazy high damage output.
