Hey all, I'm trying to install the PC launcher for NA/EU but it gets stuck on the install window and it just never completes... has anyone else had this issue?

the first time i left it for about 8 hours, i stopped it then tried restarting it hoping it would work but it's stuck again
my net runs pretty fast so it wouldn't take me 8 hours to install bdo
i did try to download the steam version and it downloaded in about an hour and it worked perfectly but i couldn't use my account from the website version unfortunately, i don't want to start from scratch but I'm worried i might have to if this won't download (the steam version has been uninstalled already)

maybe stop and delete all the stuff that was instealled and redownload installer

yeah i tried downloading the steam one to see if it was just bdo not wanting to install at all
i've tried that already
the installer its self is what's not downloading
it's the launcher that isn't installing

Hi there please close the download window via task manager
And then start the launcher from the exe in the bdo directory
That should fix the issue

okay so the exe was there this time so i tried that but now the black spirit thing is just there and not doing anything

Are you starting the launcher as an administrator? Can you attempt launching it with a right click > Run as administrator?

i just tried opening it as an administrator but it seems like its doing the same thing

If there only is one exe in the EAC folder it’s not complete tho

@indigo ocean last two times I’ve seen that error I had the person download the launcher from another region and copy the EAC files over / copy them from steam

Theres an EAC folder for bdo in Appdata too. Maybe because that one wasn’t removed , the setup doesn’t work properly?

Before trying that, could you uninstall EAC from that window you have open there for me?

Alrighty, in which case, the easiest way would probably be to reinstall the steam version - Then copy the contents of the Steam's "Easy Anti Cheat" folder over to your web installation
Unfortunately, as Windows 11 is not yet supported, there are some really niche bugs like this that cause issues

Aye - The issue you're having should just be because EAC is installing somewhere that it shouldn't be... Or possibly not at all

i copied the anti cheat off my partners bdo and it doesn't seem like its done anything

I'll be honest, I don't quite know - I keep meaning to test it
But, there is a good chance that the dll file is different for each individual machine
I would definitely try copying it from an instance of the game that has been installed on your own PC

I'll see if I can take a look whether we've had any other resolutions to that issue here

yeah i ended up having to copy a bunch of files

If you take a look through the thread - The main fix is to install a different version of the game (for example, the steam one) and then copy over any of the game files that you are missing

Honestly this shouldn't be the norm, over 5 months and this still happens is just a big joke, anyhow i tried lot of stuff but after a while it started, after a stupid amount of time but atleast it worked, unfortunately it didn't fix the endless crashes during loading screens after the last few patches and the now processing stuck after logging 2-3 times in a row) what a great experience

I understand not everyone works in IT but saying that is just saying " im too lazy to fix something " especially when m$ tries to push users to w11 which doesn't differ that much from windows 10.
My issues were present with windows 10 too btw ( the crashing part)
