The Fugates, a family who lived in the hills of Kentucky, commonly known as the "Blue Fugates" or the "Blue People of Kentucky", are notable for having been carriers of a genetic trait that led to the blood disorder methemoglobinemia, which causes the appearance of blue-tinged skin.

majority white? diversity

languid oyster
#

Domestic white students are in the minority for this incoming class at Grinnell

#

Lafayette is still a PWI

#

They both are PWIโ€™s

#

Grinnell is more diverse than Lafayette racially, in terms of internationals/geographic diversity, and socioeconomic background.

#

Tbf there are very few schools to my knowledge that are intended to serve people of your background or similar backgrounds in America unfortunately. So it's not something to feel bad about. It's just the reality of things that the majority of students American colleges have historically served and continue to serve are white.

With Grinnell specifically, you shouldn't have much of an issue finding people with your background or with similar experiences as there are a lot of Indian-American students and internationals (20% of the student body are international) who bring diversity to campus. Lafayette still has a decent amount of diversity but it might be harder to find that community since it's about 70-30 whereas at Grinnell it's closer to 50-50. Also, I do think lafayette is more of a target for you with your GPA and is very strong for your academic course + good aid, so don't rule it out yet. It's just something to be aware of!

#

Numbers only tell part of the story tho so I recommend touring so you can see for yourself (if thats doable for you)

#

thank you so much i appreciate it

#

yes definitely

Pomona is like the only Non-HBCU that i can think of that isnโ€™t a PWI

#

since itโ€™s like 20-20-20-20-20 racially

Location/Region:
currently in nyc, want to go out of state preferably northeast / open to really anything not in the midwest tho

GPA/Test Scores (optional):
school doesn't do 4.0 scale but UW is 98.4 ? room for error cuz my school is ass at everything
so far 5 aps > 5 aps senior year most likely
going test optional but that can change depending on if i perform well on my ACT/SAT in aug/sep/oct
leadership roles in 4 clubs / internships / student gov pres
Curriculum: How would you like your college's curriculum to be in terms of things like academic rigor?
no grade deflation
prefer open curriculum
Size: How large do you want your college/class sizes?
no preference

Costs: What's your budget? Will you be needing aid?
haven't really took budget into consideration, probably will apply for financial aid etc.
depending on wherever i go, dont mind paying however if im gonna have to pay full it's definitely a no (ivy's are exceptions but thats if i get in lmao)

Schools you're currently looking at (if any):
What other schools are you thinking of applying to?
my current list is basically all reaches if im going to be completely honest,
yale brown columbia grinnel haverford nyu northeastern lafayette uchicago umich usc williams barnard
uva grinnell
also applying to CUNYs separately
Additional: Any other factors that you want to mention? Anything that's specifically important or a dealbreaker?
small campus/ lack of diversity/ grade deflation
