Just got of UCSC's waitlist and need to decide
CSU Chico
Pros
- Smaller class sizes (30 - 40ish people) to allow for better connection w professors and other
- cost is ~24k a year (could go down next year if I get a scholarship)
- all my ap + cc credit is accepted (30 credits); I will graduate early by at least a year; I've already stratified most ge credit
- free access to the student rec center w additional classes
- mobile dev and ai classes are some really cool electives
Cons
- 3 hrs away from home and in a college town
- class rigor may not be at the level i'm used to (but this is something that is depend)
- college is very small and not as well known so there may be fewer opportunities
- probs less clubs and ecs due to the small size of the college
UC Santa Cruz
Pros
- ~1hr 30 mins from home near a significantly bigger city & closer to friends and family
- has game design, vr/ar, and ai elective/classes
- def more well know = has more prestige; may lead to more/better connections; is a better school for cs
- class rigor is probs going to be harder
- more clubs + resources
Cons
- Only some of my ap + cc credit is accepted
- cost ~40k not sure about aid + fees 4 rec center
- ↑ class size
- would graduate in 4 yr (maybe a semester early at the best)
- probs more completive (pro and con)
