#Stay at Northwestern vs. return to Grinnell vs. transfer to USC

FWIW you can study anything you want in grad school, pending programs. If you’re going for lit (not sure if you are) just focus your research questions around lit vs film or similar!
To me, NW seems off the table. Just not a good situation, it seems. I would weigh the benefits of Grinnell vs USC with NW being “out of the picture” to see which makes more sense. May I ask what you plan to do in grad school (what focus, what level, etc?) @kindred turret
Thanks for your kind words and advice! I appreciate them. And no worries on asking. The hope is to apply for fellowships and MFA programs in Creative Writing. I’m also considering a PhD in English after, but I’m not 100% sure about that yet.
If you’re considering a PhD in English (my fiancée is incoming as a literature doctoral student!) I’d definitely focus on what will give you the best access to professors for letters of rec and mentorship opportunities, as well as the ability to save money prior to the PhD. You’ll need it going into a humanities field where the stipends tend to be on the lower end. @kindred turret
Congratulations to your fiancée! That's absolutely amazing!
And that's a really great point, I honestly have been considering staying where I am since I can graduate early, so I can save a lot of money and also start working before grad school.
And I can study everything I want here.
Thank you so much for your advice!
Of course. If you have any questions (for me or her) feel free to ask and I’ll relay them or respond to the best of my knowledge!
Imo you won't be finding the atmosphere at usc much different than nu
usc is essentially a west coast embodiment of nu
similar preppy culture, but with a bit more diversity sprinkled in
A kinda important question, have you gotten your credit report from USC
Or at least, do you anticipate being able to graduate from USC and/or NU within 2 years
Yeah @kindred turret from what I know you might not find the culture at USC better
I appreciate all of your responses a lot, thank you so much for them! @sly hatch @pallid gazelle @marsh wind
I actually decided to stay at Northwestern today!
But thank you all so much for the help, I appreciate it.
I think it might be for the best eg
I really hope it gets better for you
You've talked to speedy right @kindred turret
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it, and it means a lot.
We talk sometimes on A2C!
