In State: New York State
Location: Urban, Blue State (or at least pro civil rights) a must based on recent trends, no wildfires / air full of smoke. Open to Europe and Canada as well.
Major: Either Aerospace Eng or Mech Eng or Mech with a concentration or minor in Aero
GPA: UW 3.65ish, dumb school weighting 3.95, real weighted 4.2ish
Test Scores: 34 ACT non superscore, all APs 3+
Existing Credits: 6 PLTW from RIT, 4 ASTR S-35 from Harvard, 3 SP 110 Embry Riddle
Curriculum: A reasonable amount of non-STEM stuff
Size: Preferably 5-30k but that's no hard limit
Costs: Must be under 50k (including other costs) after fin aid and merit aid (MIT and others bring it down to about 50k with fin aid for me usually).
Dream/Delusion School : MIT
Schools I'm looking at: University at Buffalo, Rochester IT, Northeastern, Hofstra, Worcester Polytech, Wentworth IT, CarletonU, TU Delft
Schools that don't work for sure: Boston University (didn't like the tour at all)

I should mention that I do FIRST Robotics because schools give scholarships for that which could bring the price down under 50k per year.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Canada has no aerospace programs

#

European schools have no brand recognition in US aerospace industry

#

look at big state schools known for aerospace

#

UCLA

#

UCSB

#

GeorgiaTech

#

Purdue

#

Iowa

#

Maryland

#

UW Seattle

#

WPI

#

if you do Aerospace, make sure you go to a school that's actually known for aerospace engineering

If I go abroad for uni I’m not coming back

#

not in aerospace

#

to in Aerospace, you generally need to be a citizen of the country you are working in

#

so the US only hires US citizens for aerospace and defense here

#

same in EU, India, Russia, China

finite copper
#

so I'm basically stuck here

severe berry
#

you could do something other than aero

finite copper
#

well the one other field I'm interested in is highly specialized

severe berry
#

but aerospace is a national defense related industry and coned with many rules

finite copper
#

I don't want to do defense tho

#

I want to work for like the ESA and work on scientific missions

severe berry
#

yep still need to be a citizen

finite copper
#

how long does it take to become a citizen

severe berry
#

if your reason for renouncing your US citizenship (likely) and moving to another continent is to work for a government agency, you should reconsider

finite copper
#

my reason is that half this country wants me dead for existing

severe berry
#

I mean you can move but I'm just saying its not the most realistic to work in a national defense related industry while not being from the country or nation

#

there is work at like Airbus and ATR in Toulouse you could maybe do without citizenship

finite copper
#

what about nuclear eng? ik ITER is in Southern France and Americans are able to apply there

severe berry
#

yes, US is member state

finite copper
#

idk what to do because I really want to Aero but I also don't want to be murdered for not being straight

severe berry
#

a lot of aerospace companies are in blue states

#

California, Virginia, Washington, Massachusetts, Maryland all have large aerospace industries

finite copper
#

Massachusetts?

#

Didn’t think they had like the room for it

severe berry
#

Raytheon and general dynamics are in MA

#

also GE is close

finite copper
#

Does it matter if I don’t go to a big name school

#

Because UB is like not bankruptcy

severe berry
#

UB doesn't really look to have a very good a aerospace program

#

mechanical it matters less

#

aerospace, it's ideal to go to a college that's actually known for aerospace engineering
