Schools: USC and Georgetown
Intended major: Business Administration for both
Similarities: Have the same price. Food is pretty bad. Elitist and contain strong wealth gaps.

USC
Pros:

  • Visited and felt like I fit in better
  • Ability to better explore my interests in the arts
  • Larger student network
  • Really easy to double major outside business school or change major
  • Clubs that interest me more
  • School spirited (great sports)

Cons:

  • Party culture a little bit too chaotic
  • Really close to home (6 hour drive away)
  • Cannot have two emphases in the business school
  • Marshall curve (bad if I want to go to law school)

Georgetown
Pros:

  • Values on educating the whole person
  • Different from my current area (I'm from the bay area)
  • Better resources from smaller student class size and body size
  • Big 4 consulting and invest bank target school
  • In DC (so I have access to politicians, nonprofits, and the hill)
  • Can do multiple concentrations

Cons

  • Don't like the area the university is in (the mini urban/suburb feel of the town)
  • Don't feel like I fit in at all
  • Many, many tiring hills and crazy wind
  • Clubs are exclusive and hard to get into

I really don't know which coast I want to end up or what I really want to do. I question the prestige of USC, but at the same time I didn't feel like I belonged when I visited Georgetown. Please help. Running out of time :((

USC actually has pretty decent food from what i’ve heard because of the influx of options, and it sounds like you really like USC and dislike Georgetown so just follow your gut

# lethal terrace Thank you so much for your input!

i think at the point of Georgetown and USC, if you network hard enough, the alumni network will be strong where you'll find a great job. it sounds like you vibe with usc a lotttt more and at that point of caliber i think USC is the right choice for you 🙂 lmk where u decide!

imo depends where u wanna live long-term

#

both are target for respective regions

#

georgetown is better for recruiting

#

but clubs, as you said, are super selective

#

u cant really go wrong with either of these two

hmmm these points are definitely really true. I don't really know where I want to live in the future, but I definitely want to try something new. Yet, when I went to Georgetown, I felt a little bit too culture shocked. I'm kind of in a position where I don't want to let go of the prestige of Georgetown. I would describe it as I like USC more, but I think I would regret not going to Georgetown

since u live so close to usc anyways

#

and just try it out

#

if u dont like it u can transfer out

#

but idk if u can experience the whole culture of the school in just a visit

#

just go w ur gut feeling i guess

I ended up committing to usc. There were 3 things that I think ended up making me go: 1) it felt right. when I walked onto campus at georgetown, something didn’t fit. i felt like I should listen to that, 2) ability to change majors. at usc, it is easier to add a second major across schools or change. i don’t know if I want to 100% go into consulting and usc is a more well rounded school overall, and 3) the clubs. i feel like the clubs at usc are just less exclusive and will enable me to stand out more from my peers

I still have 4 hours left maybe I’ll have a sudden change of heart
