UCI
UCI Pros:
Very nice school campus, not very spread apart
Irvine has lots of good asian food around it
Between San Diego and LA
I've heard Orange County has many more film makers and stuff
OC beaches are nicer than the ones in SD
Family likes OC more than SD for some reason

UCI Cons:
Irvine can get hot in the summer ngl, but I don't mind it too much
Literally no friends are going here
Campus architecture seems really bland
Irvine suburbia might become really boring

UCSD
UCSD Pros:
Large campus (could be a pro or con really depending on the context)
I really love the weather here more, since theres a much chiller ocean breeze
Situated right next to the ocean
Lots of my friends are going here
unique architecture
San Diego is a cool city albeit I feel like it isn't as exciting

UCSD Cons:
Not as close to LA
Food options can't beat Irvines I feel
Family doesn't like san diego for some reason lul
Muir's brutalism isn't the nicest ngl
Tiebreaking considerations:
While I am doing engineering as my major, I'm also really interested in film and knowing which school/area has a better film maker scene might push me. Also the dorms and which ones are nicer, both the SD and Irvine dorms seem pretty similar to me but if anyone has extra knowledge plz let me know.

@sinful siren what are the costs? I would also consider curriculum here because I know UCSD has a slightly different curriculum per college. Not sure about UCI though

In terms of San Diego as a city, they have decent public transit if that’s a concern of yours

There’s stuff to do and you can theoretically day trip to LA still, but yeah not as close

Tbh I don’t really know what’s in Irvine besides being near Disney as im originally from San Diego lol

Both have brutalist architecture which is stupidly ugly imo. Both socially dead/commuter campus. La Jolla cove is one of the best beaches in California so idk what you mean by better beaches, but Newport/Laguna Beach is really nice too

I don't think how spread out UCSD is too, but I think UCSD's Sixth college mega apartment thing is really cool if you were accepted there. Im guessing UCI has more film related stuff though although not that much either

Ucsd has the nice sea fog ngl but i dont think the food options compare

I also got into muir for ucsd and the college brutalism while i kinda find cool the dorms inside didnt look the best lol
