UCLA
Pros:
- campus is nicer imo & westwood, is nice
- doesn't really matter too much, but has the better name (i think?)
- loved the environment when i visited and think i would mesh better with the kind of students who go there
Cons: - i got in for civil engineering (which i actually might still prefer over electrical, but in the case that i do want to switch it might be hard, not hard tho apparently)
- larger class size, harder to sign up for classes I want
- might be harder to find opportunities for research
- quarter system (not really sure if that's a con though bc some aspects of the quarter system seem nice to me)
- classes seem to be harder, but not sure
USC
Pros: - smaller class sizes
- more supportive learning environment
- easy to switch around major if I want to (also got in for EE here)
- I might have a better suite-style dorm too bc I can stay at the honors college
- might be easier to find research/internship opportunities??
- classes might be easier so better gpa?
Cons: - got a half-off tuition scholarship but it would still be like 10-15K more than UCLA (but in my father's eyes cost doesn't matter 😍)
- feel like it might be harder to fit in, not a fan of the private school vibe
- also v introverted and do not really want to go to parties which seems to be big here
- surrounding area not very safe
I'm just getting really stressed out right now bc my mom is saying UCLA and my dad is leaning more towards USC and I just don't know what I want to do anymore 😭
