Schools: Northeastern VS NYU
Intended major: Business Administration at the D’Amore McKim School of Business at Northeastern and Hospitality and Tourism Management at NYU’s School of Professional Studies
Similarities: Non traditional college experience, city schools

Northeastern
School 1 Pros:

  • Co-Ops! (Getting paid for internships)
  • Business (flagship school)
  • undecided, easy to transfer majors
  • Good food on campus
  • Huskies as mascot!
  • Sports, good school spirit
  • Fun events
  • Small campus feel in London
  • campus :)

School 1 Cons:

  • London first semester
  • Transfer credits from London?
  • Summer school to do coops
  • Not well known
  • More recent prestige
  • No established alumni
  • Not easy to transfer
  • Overcrowded?
  • No job first semester

NYU
School 2 Pros:

  • Well known/prestige
  • In NYC (great food)
  • I’m interested in taking a year at the Shanghai campus!!!!
  • Very creative
  • Great academics
  • Easy to transfer out of
  • Job in NYC!!!
  • Great alumni network

School 2 Cons:

  • No campus :(
  • Rich people
  • Not easy to transfer majors
  • No culture
  • competitive, would have to get A’s to transfer college
  • Hospitality
  • paying school tuition to do an unpaid internship?
  • No good dining hall food?

Tiebreaking considerations:

  • Is it hard to make friends in NYC? I feel like I’d be lonely at NYU
  • Does NYU care for its students? I love those little events Northeastern hosts like the egg painting events, cultural food days, spirit days etc

both are in major cities so i don’t think befriending ppl would be hard tbh. i think both schools are great. i would choose neu over nyu probably. how’s the cost difference?

i’m biased since ima boston native. also, i think neu will make connecting and socializing easier than nyu, specifically with fgli students. it’s only now that nyu is becoming more generous and affordable for low-income students. lastly, in light of recent events, nyc is just a whole zoo rn. boston > nyc

looks like for NEU you got NU.in, which is sort of like a Guaranteed Transfer option, and also NEU is not considered prestigious for Business

I would recommend Community college actually given this, and that you're not sure about your goals yet

The hospitality major is really specific and I don't think it's a safe bet unless you're sure you want that major
