Schools: University of Washington (Direct Admit to Foster), University of Michigan- Ann Arbor
Intended majors: Economics (or general business administration) & Environmental Science/ Sustainability
Have not received UMich's Ross decision yet!
UW-Foster:
Pros:
Total Cost of Attendance for 22-23'= $6k (no loans)
- will pursue graduate school
- close to home, but also independent in a large city
- University District (food is amazinggg)
- easy to commute (bus)
- can get a job at Microsoft or Amazon pretty early, better placement for Silicon Valley?
- I might have a better ROI long term with a UW undergrad degree plus my future MBA
- close to home
Cons:
- does not offer Economics as a major, have to choose Business Administration/ Finance/ Marketing instead
- 4 quarter system = harder
- Not exactly sure what I want to do at UW other than study abroad
- Visited campus and I didn't get "WOW THIS IS MY NEXT 4 YEARS!"
UMich- LSA undeclared:
Pros:
Total Cost of Attendance for 22-23'= $17k (cheap for UMich OOS), I'll be paying 10k-15k out of pocket- small loans
- study abroad sustainable initiatives (EcoQuest in New Zealand)
- I know what to study and I know what I want out of UMich
- strong alumni network, better placement for Wall Street?
- top 3 schools on my list
Cons:
- more conservative (study body is less diverse)
- not sure if the investment of 11k+ more each year is worth it, may not be able to attend graduate school?
- not sure if I should attend if I'm rejected from Ross..
My brain is saying UW, but my heart is saying UMich.
