Hi guys,
I am considering Drexel University or UMass Amherst. My intention is to take Finance and Data Science as my major. My purposes:
Have a full-time job after graduating
Experience in a suitable environment: I am seeking for the high academic environment, talented peers, and dedicated professors.
Job opportunities while studying. I value the work experience while still studying at University.
I will give a summary for you guys to help better insight:
Location
Drexel University is located at the heart of Philadelphia city, while UMass Amherst is in suburban, which takes about 2-3 hours to visit a big city like Boston.
Cost of attendance for the whole process (Not my deciding factor)
If I learn at Drexel University, my total cost of attendance is around 130000 USD. With UMass Amherst, the cost is about 160000 USD. However, my family can still pay for 160000 USD, so the cost of attendance is not really my deciding factor.
Co-op program
Of course, Drexel University is famous for its co-op program. And I am quite sure that the Co-op program at Drexel is stronger than at UMass Amherst. Drexel curriculum is designed to be suitable for students who want to learn via experiential working.
Ranking & Reputation
In this case, UMass Amherst is in #68 NU and Drexel University is #103 NU. Furthermore, the Isenberg school (UMass Amherst) is also more well-known than the Lebow of College (Drexel University).
