Schools: Stanford vs Yale
Intended major: Stanford (bio+premed/cs), Yale (bio+premed)
Similarities: Finaid is amazing for both. Paying practically nothing
Info: Low-income, Asian male
Stanford
Pros:
Very big CS scene, so much so that I feel like it'd be a waste not to go and do cs here.
Pre-med scene is also good
world renown for everything
california weather
parents love it
Heard about duck syndrome
love the rodin art sculptures here
So many hot asian people
Cons:
I feel like I won't stand out here against world talent, and that hard work won't get me anywhere.
Yale
Pros:
Ivy? Name recognition? Don't really care about this, as both are world class.
Amazing liberal arts education (I love the arts, but it's a thing I realized about myself. More on this down below on considerations)
East coast, close proximity to NY and Boston
Epic residential colleges
Cons:
It's also hard to stand out here
CS program isn't as strong
Tiebreaking considerations:
I love art history, but it's something I realized about myself while writing essays. I feel like it's something I convinced myself that I love and that I've molded my actual self over the person I presented to be in my essays. I do love it, but I don't know if it's a factor to consider. I've heard both places have great art, and it's fairly easy to get into.
I don't know if I want to make the switch to cs. I could do cs and premed, but I'm going to have to make a decision later on. Everyone I know wants to do CS, and Stanford is arguably the best in the world for it. CS is good money for 4 years, but medicine will take so long.
Getting into one of them was a dream. Getting into both has been a nightmare. It's such a first world problem, but it's so frustrating to choose.
I would appreciate it if you would talk about major pros and cons as well.
