Location: United States
Major: Neuroscience
GPA: 96 HS GPA (not sure what this is on a 4.0 scale) + 4.0 College GPA
Test Scores: N/A (Hope to get a 1550+ on the upcoming SAT)
Curriculum: No preference
Size: I'm still undecided on this one. I would love the idea of small-class sizes, wherein I could receive individualized support and assistance; conversely, my ultimate goal is to attend an IVY-league university, the majority of which, have a large class pool. Costs: For an IVY-League university, the education is worth the cost for my family; nonetheless, I would love any form of aid I can receive.
Top three schools of Interest: Johns Hopkins University, Columbia University, and Harvard University.
Supplemental Info: 1) Warm Weather. 2) IVY-League far from home (NY, unless I get accepted to Columbia). 3) Vibrant area with lots to do.

*I need help coming up with some possible safeties and other prestigious schools besides the IVY-League universities, that I can apply to, in light of my stats. Should you need any additional info, please do not hesitate to DM me. Thank you

Warm weather and ivy dont match lol

#

also I would really pay attention to curriculum which you said "none"

#

Harvard is very different from the core curriculum

#

So could you clarify this

from smaller class sizes + warmish weather + city location I can suggest Rice University in Houston, TX

Look at Stanford if you want something equivalent (or arguably better depending on your preferences) to an Ivy league in a warm area.

In terms of safeties are you looking for something that would be affordable? I know you mentioned your family would consider paying for an ivy league or equivalent worth it, but what are their cost preferences for something that is more of a target or safety?

Duke may be cool too

Are there any schools in the new york state system that you like so far? If not maybe take a dive into those and check out their vibes and class sizes

Yep, I figured. At this moment, I'm still trying to figure out what exactly I want. Also, thank you for clarifying that Harvard's curriculum is starkly different from other curriculum. I will keep this in mind moving forward. Again, thanks for your input, it means a considerable amount to me.

Hi! Thanks for your input. I'm definitely looking into Stanford. It is a school of considerable interest. As for the economic climate, I would consider this a target. As a prestigious university, it's evident that the costs will be increasingly high. My family is resolute in paying for this, but nonetheless, I would consider it a target. Thank you for your input. It means so much to me.

Stanford is not an Ivy

Definitely looking into Duke as well. I'm going to be applying to an internship program there and also believes that it aligns with my personal and educational fit-factors.

Also, what do you mean by Stanford is a “target”

#

It has a <4% acceptance rate

Good Evening All! Thank you for your responses! If you have any other input, please feel free to share. I appreciate you all taking the time out to respond to my thread. As a high school junior, seeing many high school seniors overwhelmed by this holistic process only underscores the amount of dedication and research that must be done beforehand. Thus, I would like to do this to ensure that I'm well-equipped for this process. Again, I would like to value your time and patience. I hope my message found you and your families well.

Hi All! Sorry for the double message - **if anyone is aware of any scholarships I could apply to, please let me know. Once again, I'm currently a junior in high school. For this one, if you could DM me, that would be greatly appreciated. Again, my DMs are always open. **

That said, still apply to them

#

Especially local ones

#

They are usually not as competitive

fickle rampart
#

Hmm. I will look into the "scholarship displacement" concept. That said, again, if you know of any scholarships or websites where I can find some local ones, please let me know (via-DM). Thank you in advance.

There's also college-specific scholarships, so aside from independent outside scholarship funds, it's also worth looking into schools with their own scholarships (that may or may not need a separate application).

Look into the Claremont Colleges too

#

So-Cal so very nice weather + Ivy League level education for undergraduate

#

Classes are extremely small and you can take classes at any of the 5 colleges

#

I'd probably pick either Pomona College or Pitzer for Neuroscience
