Location: Close to home would be nice and convenient (SoCal/San Diego) unless it's really worth it
Major: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, something something tech idk
Stats: 4.0 UW, 4.4 W, 4.7 UC
Curriculum: Rigorous to moderate so don't wanna breeze through nor suffer too much because of the stress
Size: Don't care
Costs: $20k tuition after aid is the sweet spot, coming from a family making less than $50k a year
Looking at: UCSD (reach), UCLA (reach), UCI (reach), UCSB (reach), UCR (target), SDSU (target), CPP (safety)
Additional: Tolerable weather pls, also maybe a good place for social redemption arc after being the quiet kid in HS

have you looked at Cal Poly SLO or the Claremont Colleges? and USC is notorious for being expensive, but maybe after aid it'd be good location-wise and socially?
also i def agree with UCSB for the happiness factor, from what i've seen ppl seem to quite enjoy the social-academic mix there haha
oh yeah lol i forgot to put slo on there
and i will def google the claremont colleges thank you very much
lol i kind of look to college as an opportunity to make some friends, go outside, get my act together
as someone who isn't where they wanna be atm, it's a hopeful vision
honestly same (altho i'm sure our circumstances aren't entirely similar so i dont wanna assume), so everything ur saying makes a lot of sense lol
good luck!!!
did you take the PSAT?
but thank you
it said i was being considered
oh what
lol so u might be getting it then
bc if you got national merit semifinalist, USC will give you half off tuiton
- merit aid if you get it = relatively low cost of attendance
def gonna factor that in if it comes around
I agree with saultymunny, throw in your local CSUs as safeties also SLO and Cal Poly Pomona. I would also throw in SJSU for CS. I think their CS acceptance rate is around 30%? So Would be a reach/match with your stats. I would throw in Berkeley too in case you change your mind and all you have to do is click a button to add it. Also I would add Chapmen University. I don't know how it's CS program is like, but I would assume it's not too rigorous and with your stats you might get pretty big scholarships. It's in OC so you'd like the weather and it's not too far from home.
