You probably passed that
Just split it into multiple
Schools: Penn State, UW Madison, Ohio State, UCI, UMNTC, Michigan state
Intended Major: Mechanical engineering
Penn State uni park: coa- 55k
Pros:
- Ranked top among unis for mech e in both QS and US news (rankings don't matter a lot to me and is not the only deciding factor)
2)One of the biggest alumni network and biggest career fair
-
Got huge funding last year and is going to open two open one new building this fall and another next year(west buildings) with advanced labs and facilities
-
Students teams are okaish for engineering
-
Really like the social life there
Cons:
- Don't really like the student teams and they have them scattered around different campus, like baja sae is in Harrisburg
UW Madison: coa- 57-58k
Pros:
-
again good mech e program ranking wise
-
really like the location and social scene
-
the students teams are better than penn state
Cons:
- I can't think about any con except for the #1 party school and some online posts saying some professors suck
Ohio State: coa- 62-63k
Pros:
-
good program
-
Love the students teams here
-
they have an automotive research center and airport
-
really good facilities
Cons:
-
felt social life is a bit lacking there
-
don't really like the location but the campus looks good
Tiebreaking considerations:
The above three are my top choices right now and cost isn't a big factor that i am considering but it does matter
some other unis that i got into are:
WPI(coa-58k)- love the research there
UMNTC(coa 55k)
Iowa state(coa 35k more scholarship awaited) - really like the student teams and facilities
Kettering(coa 55k)- top co-op program with funding from GM
Michigan state (coa around 40k)
IUPUI(coa-30k) and UNC charlotte(coa-40k) major is motorsports+mechanical engineering both are the only unis with this major with connections with indy car and Nascar teams
UCI(coa- 65k not sure)
Tiebreaking consideration: I will have to take some loans above 50k which is not an issue, i believe that tiebreaker would be that currently i am inclined towards the automotive industry and really want to go to a uni with pog research and student teams
I have been trying to decide for past one month and have started liking penn state but still can't reach some conclusion
please help
Here u go
@craggy marten thank you so much
UW Madison sussy saar
What two buildings are opening up at Penn state?
UCI ain't worth for 65k, and the other ones for that type of price also not worth
looks like none of these are in state nor offered you good scholarships
imo for your situation I hate to say it but community college may be your best option
don't take out large loans to go to school, and especially if the ones you got in are transfer friendly you should do that instead
i am international student
my family can afford the expenses but i will take small amount of loans as i don't want to stress my family
i think it should mainly be between Pennstate and UWM. Are you sure UWM's only con in your case is that people there party a lot? Cause Pennstate wont be far behind. Some professors suck at all universities tbh.
tbh i didn't really feel a connect with engineering program there
but again i haven't looked into it as much i have looked into other unis
UW M would be your best choice then
lower cost and decent education for ME people
trust me, PSU is way crazier for parties
