Location/Region: Currently in Connecticut and would like to stay in New England with ability to visit home every couple months.
Major: Mechanical engineering with a focus in design / CAD
GPA/Test Scores: 3.6 UW 3.9/3..95W. Going to take a serious SAT attempt after summer
Classes & Clubs: Robotics program, collaborative environment.
Size: Class size isn't a decider but I prefer small
Costs: Not factoring at the moment but will be seeking aid.
**Schools You're Currently Looking At: **
**Safety **- CT state Community College then transfer (I have guaranteed admission.)
I don't know if any of the rest are target or reach.
Top considerations

  • WPI (I love project based learning but don't know details of it, some of my FRC teammates are going there.)
  • Northeastern University (Co-op program looks incredible.)
    Mid
  • RPI (people like this and RIT but I really don't know a lot about them)
  • RIT
? (I have no clue what these are like I just see these were ranked good and need to do more research.)
  • Penn state
  • UMass Amherst
Joke (no shot at getting in)
  • Cornell
  • MIT
Additional: I really want hands-on learning, and to be able to focus my time on design / CAD. For application strength I am about to be an eagle scout, I am a certified EMT in highschool, and I do FRC (competitive robotics,) where I get experience in CAD.

If you need substanial aid, I'd get rid of the OOS publics. WPI, RPI, RIT ar eall great options, URochester, Union College, UConn is worth including

Olin College of Engineering and Cooper Union are good with aid. Olin also has this first robotics scholarship - https://www.pearson.com/futures/scholarships/first-partner/olin-college-of-engineering#main-content-starts

I agree with RIT/WPI/RPI. Definitely UConn. WPI has some first robotics scholarships - https://www.pearson.com/futures/scholarships/first-partner/worcester-polytechnic-institute-wpi-scholarship#main-content-starts

You could also try NJIT

Check the net price calculator for Drexel https://www.pearson.com/futures/scholarships/first-partner/drexel-university

Ooh yeah, Olin is a good call. I skipped Cooper Union based on gpa, but could try it as a reach
