Schools: UCLA vs CMU vs UMich
Intended major: Math/Econ with intentions of breaking into finance or quant (??)
Similarities: All t20s so academically comparable
Costs: Full pay for each (don't really care about the cost though)
UCLA: $84,623
CMU: $93,614
UMich: $84,164
UCLA
Pros:
- SUNNY EVERYDAY
- Close to LA
- Extremely great Math & Econ program
- Start up culture
- Sports (!!)
- Social life
- Nice campus
Cons:
- I got into the math/econ program which apparently not in the econ department so less emphasis on econ & I fear less connections
- HUGE school (30k+ undergrads)
- Far from home (NY)... i dont really care about this one tbh
Carnegie Mellon
Pros:
- Undergrad in Computational Finance allows me to take classes at Tepper & Mellon (science school) & Dietrich (CAS school) & even some masters classes in their world famous Masters in Computational Finance program which is a target program for quant; my dream program
- Semi Target school for finance
School 2 Cons: - Would have to apply to the undergrad program; extremely competitve, apparently only 15 spots
- WEATHER SUCKS
- No social life?
UMich
Pros:
- Sports
- Good Econ & Math Program
Cons: - Hella hella cold
- Huge campus
Mostly deciding between UCLA and CMU but recently got into UMich so added it to the list
