#Washington State University vs. University of Washington (MechE or AeroE)

Both fine as the previous person said, but NGL I have never met anyone from wsu. I know a few UW people working at major spacecraft companies.
I think UW just clears for aerospace lmao, you can get a Boeing internship if you try hard enough
I visited UW last february and i loved it, the area is amazing for food and such
Nah the only good food in Seattle is oysters, ie a completely uncooked dish
Although I don't know where wsu is lol
Pullman, in eastern Washington south of Spokane
oh, tbh i had thought that the asian food there was good
Oh lol it's gotta be better than that
I have been disappointed by teriyaki and Thai food in the surrounding area. I think cap hill has good ramen and I like stateside
This is a fairly hyperbolic statement tbh. I have been disappointed in Seattle food but also a good chunk of it was during bidenflation so my expectations were probably too high in light of how expensive stuff was.
I would say Seattle is a great place to be
maybe i'm just a pushover
i liked seattle a ton in general
think its probably a lot better than spokane in many regards
even the nature is better
and in the course of human events we usually do have to move to a big city so its not awful to have it be right now
Seattle was nice all the times ive been
ive stayed in the UW dorms for a week during a summer camp and it was alright
Yeah love Seattle personally. Just disappointed by the food I've tried
Never been to Spokane tho
i feel like for aerospace uw seattle can be worth the extra
its like really fucking good for that major and its suchj a beautiful big school etc
great option to have
cant go wrong with wsu tho
i'd go uw just because of the environment and food
100% UW. WSU is good but UW has the connections in alumni and business opportunities in the area
pullman is in the middle of nowhere
pullman is like a 2 hour drive from spokane 😭
and spokane sucks
or at least their boba does
went to 5 different boba places and their boba was all either flavorless or undercooked 🥀
but anyhow, you will 100% see a return on investment even if it costs 13k extra per year
UW's engineering program is one of the best in the country
haven’t been accepted to UW yet
No point in making this comparison then
I wish you the best but you’re going to make the wait for that decision more miserable by doing this
If you haven’t gotten in yet, putting this much thought into UW vs WSU might kill you inside if you receive bad news later this month from UW. Don’t count your chickens before they hatch, or something.
That’s what I did with Rutgers and they waitlisted me for my first choice major lol
tbf he's in-state so there's a very strong chance he'll get accepted. Like if he has even a semi competitive application then there's a high chance. Because several ppl in my school got accepted to engineering last year and I would not say they had the most competitive applications ever, more like top 25% of the class in terms of academics and EC's.
although, I'll admit, if he lives up in the bellevue/seattle area then he'll need a more comp app but for pretty much the rest of the state that doesn't live in the top 3-4 cities, your app does not need to be uber competitive for a reliable chance to get in
yeah conversely thinking this would crush you harder for a rejection. Best to just not plan ahead before you even know results, however good your chances are
I’m fairly confident in my UW application, and I’d still be content either way it falls. I haven’t really banked super hard on UW, I’m just trying to get more information on what I should know when it does come time for me to decide
Oh I don’t live anywhere near Seattle
in that case if it were me, I'd pick UW any day. Their engineering programs are awesome. If it's any consolation about the culture, Seattle doesn't feel as "big city negative" heavy as something like san francisco.
@polar wren I hear UW decisions came out, how'd you do?
I got waitlisted so that kinda tips the scale
but i did go on a tour of WSU yesterday and i loved it
Yea I’m literally in such a similar position just for nj schools
I’d go to wsu since they actually want u and not to fill a spot, if you really want to go to udub then cc plus transfer might work, but I think wsu is still adequate
Uw is probably my fav college in general but if they did that I’d probably just go to wsu and then apply to uw for grad school
Maybe idk
Don't forget to consider ski resorts. Seattle is 4 hours from whistler but Spokane is in range of red mountain, and Schweitzer
i have literally never been skiing but maybe ill try
