Saint leo:
pros. intended major, beautiful campus, cheaper
cons. middle of nowhere, (Dont really wanna go hear but its the best i got bc tampa waitlist)
Eckerd (school 2)
pros, beautiful campus, next to beach, in city, know many people there, can bring my cat, have a full time job lined up, study abroad

what draws you into nursing? have you looked at PA school? optometry? PT/OT? social work and become a therapist? also how do you plan to work full time and do school? generally people will work part time at most
well yes its part time if needed its a very flexible scheduling with the company, im drawn to nursing due to my time in and out of hospitals when i was very very ill, along iwth this solidifiying why i wanna be a nurse is about 3 weeks ago i watched my mother pass away in my own home due to drug abuse
I'm so sorry for your loss
I think healthcare is awesome and a valiant route to go. It sounds like you like Eckerd a lot so I was curious if you had considered other health professions that you could do as a graduate degree. You can also usually get a career changer master's degree for nursing.
you can also go to medical school with a bachelor's degree in any topic
eckerd only has premee
well, what I mean to say is that for any healthcare worker degree besides nursing, medical labaroatory scientist (don't see patients just work with specimens), imaging technologist (perform the xrays or ultrasounds on patients), dental assistant, and dietitian, most of them are graduate programs.
so, what the admissions requirements for those programs are is A) major in whatever you want B) take 2 bio, 2 chem, 2 physics, 2 English classes, some anatomy, some genetics as electives. and then C) have clinical volunteering and shadowing hours. and then you can apply to then study optometry (do eye exams and treatments), physician's assistant (2 yr program and you get to do a lot of procedures and patient encounters similar to a doctor or nurse practitioner), physical therapy, occuptational therapy (directly work with and mentor patients in rehab), medical physics (control all the cancer zapping machines). pharmacy (provide patients medications and help doctors pick the right one). or you can go for an ABSN (accelerated bsn) or direct-entry master's in nursing after again any undergraduate major.
sooo potential majors could be: biology, neuroscience, psychology, chemistry, anthropology, human development, spanish, etc.
and then regardless of your major you should be taking other science classes like if you're in biology, you need to take some chemistry or physics and english, etc.
but then yeah then you can just apply 2-3 yr programs to either become a nurse, physicians assistant or doctor of some sort (MD, pharmacy, PT/OT, dentist, etc.)
so if i go premed i can still become a nurse
yeah premed isn't a major but generally speaking yeah. it's just a more convoluted path to get there and you'll have to do research on what the admissions requirements for an postbacc nursing degree are
but yeah technically the term is prehealth and it's nice that eckerd has a prehealth office to advice people who want to do more school to enter healthcare: https://www.eckerd.edu/pre-health/
basically they'll help guide you to pick the classes, majors, and extracurricular activities that will allow you to have a competitive profile for any healthcare graduate program
here's an example program you can apply for after: https://health.usf.edu/nursing/undergraduate/programs/second-degree
another thing you can do is go to cc to get your prerequisites out of the way and then apply to a nursing school you would actually want to go to
saint leo is good, like the most recent nursing exam had a 100% pass rate im just so set on tampa
i think it depends on whether or not you want to be a nurse right away or in tampa more then
Eckerd is the better choice
update, ud bio full ride
University of Delaware?
yes
Do you like Delaware?
no
But is it an option now because of the full ride? Is cost a big factor for you
