Schools: Virginia Tech (IN STATE) , Purdue
Intended major: Applied electrical engineering, want to switch to mechanical
Similarities: Both amazing for engineering
Costs: in state for VT, oos for purdue, probably not getting any aid for either so likely roughly 40k for VT and 50k for Purdue
VT Pros:
- Love the environment, great food, closer to home
- Cheaper
- I've heard research/internship opportunities are pretty available for engineering
VT Cons: - Slightly lower ranked
- probably less opportunities/prestige than Purdue
Purdue Pros:
- Better for my major
- probably better job/internship opportunities
Purdue Cons: - I don't know much about the overall environment like social life, food, campus, weather, etc.
- more $$$
- further from home
Tiebreaking considerations:
- mostly just wondering how the student environment is like at Purdue (ignoring academics)
- and are the opportunities/education better enough where it's worth the extra money?
(BTW money isn't a serious concern as my parents are paying fully but I don't want to waste their money if its not worth it) - also how is major switching for engineering at both of these schools? (as I mentioned I applied electrical but most likely want to switch to mechanical)
