going to the college can make it easier to get opportunities but if u dont take advatnage it wont matter

and in theory not every1 will have a net benefit of going (assuming they had high expectations salary wise)

im not saying the end goal of going to a good college is making more money and theres a reason top colleges (aside from schools stem heavy like mit) like ivies avg grad salary isnt that much higher than ur avg school

like ik theres a lot of issues in the cs market but honestly if ur good at coding and p smart u wont have that much of an issue getting a good job

id say most ppl arent that skilled who enter the cs job market and that's the main reason they are having problems finding one

from older friends i know who are going to top colleges the ones who were genuinly cracked and good at cs easily got top internships and the ones who werent or bsd are still having issues (all going to ivies)

unlike college admissions in the job market top roles that so many ppl aspire to get rely heavily on skill. connections matter too but the top skilled ppl will be getting those jobs regardless

there's a reason the top quant firms are going to hire an IMO medalist if they choose to go down that path

it's the best of the best and they know it and will even take the risk of just offering them a summer internship w/o an interview
