if they don’t give you enough you should be able to call them up or negotiate etc

they are 100% of demonstrated need

if you get a federal work study, they also have community service volunteer positions that are for FWS kids only and fufill the requirements and pay DC min wage

• All the freshmen dorms were renovated in some form during COVID, and even the “worst” one is still not that bad (and overhated imo)
• Rats do exist but if you keep your dorm clean they won’t be an issue
• The main construction that everyone sees on campus right now is planned to end this spring (though work with the ICC and Old North Building is going to extend into 2027)
• My friends here who are on significant financial aid said that though their initial offers were too low there wasn’t much struggle in getting more aid
• Since you’re public policy I’ll just comment that some number of students do transfer into government because Capitol Campus life is disconnected from the Hilltop, but if you end up coming here take the intro class, explore the Capitol Campus on your own, and come to a decision based on how you feel about it

The events that i enjoyed the most tho are the opening major specific ones, where like if you’re in the college you can see all the different majors and talk with professors and get free stuff, opening remarks (u can see ed cooley and acapella), faculty showcases, and convocation.

The ones that are like okay imo are the deans info sessions and luncheons, where you have a chance to like eat with other kids but tbh the ppl i got tight with i just talked with them and walked around instead of talking when eating with them and of course learn about your school, but it was a little boring. And the campus spotlights are useful but kinda draining since you’ve been walking around for 7.5 hours at that point. Icebreakers were okay—I didn’t really benefit from them, but I can see how some ppl might have been able to

The one I didn’t find useful that much was the student academic panels where theh answer some basic student life questions which u can probably google tbh and yeha

My favorite part was convocation, they gave great speeches and amazing performances (also more acapella including the georgetown fight song)
