I am going as premed
Major: chem or bio
Similarity: both are a good school for premed

I don’t really know a lot a lot about both of these college but it has been the 2 I’ve been considering for awhile. So I hope you guys can give me some advice on it.

Northwestern
Pros: location, high acceptation rate, grade deflation isn’t too bad?

Cons: quarter term (idk if that really bad or not), grade might be hard to get bc of quarter term, start summer really late compared to other schools

WashU
Pros: semester term, I do like there major more, good dorm, and can go home more often

Cons: location, grade might a litter harder to get but maybe easier than northwestern

Also I do want to have a good social life at college, but idk which one has a better one

WashU would be my preference. They have a great reputation and exceptional research output.

Northwestern doesn’t have a med school on their campus. It’s in downtown Chicago. You miss out on many opportunities there as a result.

#

With that being said, northwestern med school (Feinberg) does prioritize their own undergraduates

#

So it’s somewhat a toss up

I think WashU is a little bit more laid back, which is good for you

Also which state are you in? Do some research as to how the state you are in and the state you would be moving to for undergrad determine in state residency for the purpose of public medical school admissions

Feinberg takes care of their own to the point of it being problematic, in my opinion

#

That’s part of why I turned them down. Everyone and their mother at second look was a northwestern grad. It was like nothing I’ve ever seen.

Which you apply to as a sophomore or junior

What would you say the total number of NW premeds going to feinberg per year is?

I would say of those 332…

#

Around one in three or ~100 were northwestern undergrads

#

100/240 puts you at a 40% chance, which is absurdly high for a medical school given the average acceptance rate is 7%
