if you want to do grad school I can't imagine an LAC ever really being a bad bet

if you want to work right out of school, lots of LACs have very strong connections, and talking to someone can help you see if pomona's one of them

Pomonas CS department is great. I have a hallmate friend whos interested in majoring and took an intro class and has told me its very hands on, and that the smaller size has helped immensely with getting feedback on his projects. Im not interested in CS myself, but I can absolutely relay any specific questions you may have to him

You may have heard that the CS major was under a lottery system, basically students who passed the intro class were put into a random chance lottery to determine who could declare the major and proceed with second-level courses.

I believe thats now been abolished starting this school year since our department gained some new faculty and can now support more majors. So I wouldnt fret about it if you hear that going around

And of course, Harvey Mudd is an immense resource as well that you can cross register with and from what I understand thats pretty normal for the STEM departments here

Outside of classes, I am aware that CMC has a silicon valley internship program I believe that Pomona CS students are able to participate in, and if youre interested in research thats one of Pomonas strongest extracurriculars, its very popular to do work with professors over the summer

one thing i'm concerned about is the fact that pomona never asked me for my community college course grades

i put down that i took courses at a community college, but i didn't get HS credit for it, so i wasn't allowed to put it in my Courses & Grades section of the common app for whatever reason

#

and pomona's portal never asked me for my unofficial community college transcript even though i reported that i did in fact take classes at a community college and was directly awarded credit by them

#

so i hope i don't get my acceptance rescinded or something later on for not explicitly reporting it?
