Oh rly how come if you don’t mind saying
No bro gimme quantum any day but the day someone tells me go study circuits i give up
Uhh very confusing decision but idk camb was my dream school like forever and it feels wrong to turn it down
How's mechanics
Oh my friend is going to oxford
but i change my mind twice a week so before i decide gonna change atl 20 more times
Where else did you get accepted into?
Eh better than electrical but i prefer fully theoretical
Did you take further maths?
Oh same, my best friend got oxford and i got camb and we keep arguing abt which is better
I do IB so math AAHL
Well obv
In UK i got Camb, LSE, UCL, Warwick, Durham. US was amherst bowdoin, W&L, Vandy, Washu and some others
UK politics US double major of pol sci and physics
ahhh my fav subject lol
My predicted was 44/45
Does UK not have any dual degrees
yeah fairs
it’s a tough one tbh
Papers this week and its 2am and im not studying or sleeping😭
But thankfully you can’t go wrong
Full pay?
nah not at all
Nah, got aid
Hehe
Same
I'm doing 10 papers as soon as I wake up dw
Full aid? For us unis
Not full, around 60-70% i think
Vanderbilt got a great engineering program
I get too bored doing more than 1 a day
Awww
Little boy needs his dopamine?

Yeah 1 paper and 3 hrs of reels
Thats mot too bad
Love that school asw
I need to get started on my other subjects though everything this week
Did 5 papers during this day
Only ones that are explicit up front
Oh damn
I somehow did 2 a day for IB physics
Oh same i think
Single handedly traumatized me from ever doing physics ever again
Except like relativity and feilds i used to enjoy it
At least it went alright overall I think, I mean paper 1 was the easiest thing I’ve ever done but some of p2 was questionable
Really I like A5
I got every relativity question right
but whenever those stupid asf right hand left hand bs came my head hurt
Yeah quite similar for me i feel. P1 was nice
I always get that shit wrong 😭
Oh damn, was fun but tough imo. took me a while to get the hang of it
Same. Worst topic by far
Agreed but afterwards it became free marks
i liked all except math. math ia annoyed me too much
I never reached that point but yeah was nice
You just have to stop overthinking
I loved my math is
The topic was invented by people overthinking everything they knew
Oh nice. Math was my least fav IA
I enjoyed physics chem GP a lot
and IO
Oh I cooked so hard in my IO
Someone told me my English teacher played it to his DP1 class 😭
Which is embarsssing
I have no idea how i did our teacher didnt tell us😭
Fr
Oh damn thats impressive
Yeah even if VERY embarrassing icl
At least it means I did very wel
Okay imma go sleep now cause i need tomo to be productive else im screwed
Yea fairs lol
i based it off of what the college ranked each factor. for example some are listed as very important, important, considered, somewhat important, and not considered
shhhh dont disprove me
Yes, my point is that those have no actual basis
Like they don't specifically mean anything
and deliberately put things like rec letters over gpa in importance
Because the federal government forces them to
i thought it means the college considers rec letters more over gpa
how does the gov force them to say that rec letters r more important than gpa to them
Than the number? Sure. Highly selective schools don't just look at the number
It forces them to fill that out
I mean, realistically the admissions process is too opaque to know if that's valid or not. Regardless, stats clearly matter to Grinnell if they have an average GPA of 4.05 and a mean SAT of 1468
Most liberal arts institutions are going to be mildly more holistic, but selective schools can also afford to reject somebody for virtually anything they deem glaring
i was going more off the sat side since the person was surprised that they accepted a 1420 sat intl
i mean i was test opt
their mean sat is not high at all for their selectivity and lacs are simply just very hollolistic and forgiving to lower stats
realistically for a 13% ar college their mean sat is very low
i can see gpa tho
Many schools implement a policy that a low score simply won't be considered if it'd hurt their application, as they could've just gone test optional. I don't believe Grinnell is officially one of those schools, but I imagine its probably considered in a similar way.
Holistic review is a beautiful thing since they'll just emphasize other parts of your profile if your scores are low(er)
the idea that SAT or ACT scores is the end all be all doesn't apply nearly anywhere anymore though--if you're attending a T10 they might want to see higher scores, but even then that'll just be the standard rather than "a 1600? we MUST accept this kid"
my friend had a 1450 I believe and got into UPenn lmao
the other thing is that average SAT numbers are incredibly inflated right now thanks to test optional policies--leads to very deceptive numbers that really should be taken with a grain of salt
Holistic also doesn't mean "ignores academics"
It means looking at more than just
Yeah my friend got into Cornell engineering with a 32 ACT
and then the president of the university lwk slimed them out
What
did you not hear the accusations against the cornell president
Nah
hit some students with a car
i think the students were protesting in support of palestine and they were near his car
then eh backed up into two students and hit them
Oh
i've heard that its disputed whether or not the president actually did it
Rip
like it isnt confirmed if that was the president
but then I think that got solved
but now they're saying that the students surrounded their car and there wasn't really another choice
Maybe don’t press the gas pedal
That’s something within your control
your car is surrounded by a bunch of demanding delinquients
do you sit there and do nothing
and potentially get harmed
or do you try to get away
Ok that’s fair
it's probably wrong to surround someone's car for basically no reason i will say
MAYBE as a prostester you dont sit behind somebody's car when they're trying to move said car
but maybe it would have been better for him to try to get guards to disperse them? although that could have taken a long time
In my defense I thought maybe these were peaceful protesters
call the fucking royal guard
LMAOO
apparently they were protesting the suspension of like 80 peaceful prosters
that are probably within 1 minute of the spot
i also know "peaceful prostesting" is usually a generous term these days
eh, play stupid games win stupid prizes
i dont feel really that bad for them but from an optics standpoint probably should have gotten the police to disperse them
Dang college kids
i always hate arguments like that since it doesn't follow logical human processing
it always reminds me of this clip hol up
what do you mean
those kinds of arguments always remind me of this clip
Small clip from Blue Bloods to help demonstrate the stupid notion of shooting to wound, and how quickly things evolve for police. Show this to anyone who says, why didn't they shoot him in the leg
Fair use, this is only a 1minute clip from an hour long TV show for a specific reason of education.
i mean i dont think it's an insane thing to say you should get police to disperse protesters that are all around your car lol
i feel like doing stuff on your own accord here is more likely to get yourself into trouble with the law or get a horrid reaction from the protestors threatening your safety
if you were surrounded by 5 people, are you thinking "gee wilikers, oughta call the police!"
i dont think what he did was morally wrong i just think it was wrong for his own self-being
that my point
yeah i literally never argued that it was morally wrong
im not saying you did I'm just saying that's a little silly
i mean its impossible to know until more comes out
but
you see what im getting at here?

i mean just in my pov i feel like theres a higher chance someone reacts violently to you if you try to run them over ASAP
i dont blame him though
just that people are crazy and sometimes acting chill and getting someone else to do the dirty work for you is what is needed to stay safe
i have a sneaking suspicion something was already instigated if they're surrounding his vehicle
idk
like i getchu
and yeah it would've been better for PR
but idk if that was a plausible outcome at least from the little bit of info thats out
thats fair
i think kids take this stuff too seriously... a school investing in the S&P does not meaningfully aid genocide
it depends who you ask. the two sides are both saying different things
the president claims he was being harrassed while the protestors say that they were peaceful and were only standing outside the car
but either way he could have honked the car or made any similar signal to show that he wanted to back up his car to prevent this
backing the car when students are standing behind it is reckless and it shouldve been obvious that he'd get more backlash from it
agreed! just seems stupid to do
like even if i dont think it was so morally wrong it just feels like he's quite a fool for not anticipating the fallout...
you’re making it sound like they were busting his windows in
i don’t think he was in any danger of being taken out by 5 people standing stationary next to his car lmao
do u !
are you trying to go to the wokest lac? since you asked
udub is pretty woke 👀 just saying
it's seawoke wokeattle
you have no idea what your talking about lmfaooo
I'm talking abt employability rate from my sources?
Ofc there are other factors
The biggest of which is that MIT students usually don't go to finance
that doesnt mean its not one of the TOP schools
I've never said it wasn't?
Are you illiterate?
your basing your opinion on MIT not being one of the strongest feeders into finance from "college transitions"
I'm not
MIT used to be my top school
I don't think your contextualizing properly
what am i contextualizing wrong
Please read before you start berating me on me not knowing how MIT is
you said its not t30 for undergrad fin placement
or around that range
which is incredibly wrong
I was saying it doesn't make it into t30 of feeders
Because most undergrads don't go to finance
What makes u think otherwise? Do u have sources?
?
brother
I've sent it 3 times
just because there isnt a huge influx of students going into it per the size of the school does not mean its not a top feeder
they will take a mit studen over a umich ross
or nyu stern
MIT is good at quant, hedge, and fintech
But finance is larger than that
And most people at MIT dont want to do finance
and your just wrong again
*You're
most people in MIT go into quant simply because its the easiest fit into the skill set
be nice guys
the point is these baanks want the smartest students
He started it
MIT is a signal of that
most go into those not because MIT itself is not a strong feeder, but because its a more natural transition
U said it urself
"MIT itself is not a strong feeder"
Ah my bad
you are right in the idea that a LOT less target sell side fin due to a harder transition, but if they choose to do MIT is on the playing field of havard wharton princeton etc
I thought MIT has a less straightforward pipeline tho compares to other finance schools
not all, its just less prevalent
not at all*
not a huge amount people go into that so it may be less obvious, but its strength itself is undeniable
Eh rankings r worthless anyways
Besides if you looked at why I said that it was cuz some kid was dissing dartmouth
dartmouth is also a top feeder
Exactly
Full blown MBA btw
Yo did the amherst appeal go through
Got banned
Not his main as well
His main got banned aswell
Nah 😭
im sorry man where u committed now?
Committed to amherst only, but likely gonna go to the UK instead
Yeah I firmed cambridge insuranced LSE now just gotta meet the conditionals
42/45 with 776 in hls😭
Same bro this week is my worst ohe
for both??
For me chem math spanish
Cambridge. Lse is 38 with 666 which is quite chill
Debatable icl I love them both
WL movement for amherst has been like
dead silent
im in shambles
is amherst w aid more expensive than cambridge for you damn
LACs lowk be lowballing intls
Would generally be same cost but I'm getting some more support for cambridge so it's less
Yeah for many LACs I think
ohh like external scholarship
Yeah
thats nice
