Kinda competitive btwn Duke/UNC hospitals because you've got Duke and UNC kids competing for both, then all the other Triangle kids (NCCU, NCSU, etc)

It would certainly depend on what. You can do interinstitutional enrollment with Duke, NCCU, NCSU, and a few other schools if you want to do courses across schools. Not sure about the lemur center but you can always look for opportunities. Generally things affiliated with Duke that arent necessarily Duke University™ should be fair game for anyone local but do your research. Also definitely don't sleep on UNC E3P, biology, and Gillings for environmental opportunities

btw pro tip to yall do NOT be in the early orientation group if you care about getting classes

me and my friend were in the 2nd orientation and two of my other friends were in like the 13th one or something

and they had a much easier time getting what classes they wanted

idk if it’ll be different this year given they moved around decision dates but generally the more locked in ppl are in the earlier groups and the ppl who choose to go to unc last tend to end up in the last groups

as a result the people in the earlier groups usually know about all the good classes and all since they’re mostly instate and have looked into it by this point and good classes end up filling up faster

the later groups are usually mostly oos and generally have a harder time knowing about the good classes so it’s easier to get them

and every enrollment cycle generally has the same amount of reserved seats in classes

ANOTHER VERY PRO TIP take appl-110 with a fy-launch/fy-seminar that also covers a fc to get gen eds out of the way faster

appl 110 can only be taken freshman year and has to be taken along with a seminar/launch but is a very easy and fun class that gives you fc create which is a pain to get later depending on your major where most classes giving this credit meet 2-3hrs a day for 2-3 days a week(unless you get Spanish 204 credit)

TLDR: later orientation group = later registration = more oos = less comp for good classes

take appl-110 along with seminar/launch that covers a fc to maximize time
