#UNC Chapel Hill (2025-2026)

SAME LMFAO
We had to work together to prep for tests
unc uses rate my professor right
Yes
We basically only have one Prof for all the 200+ level maths 😭
ok good
Wait same they have my favorite review ever
Meaning worst rating
LMAOO
who?
omgg my cc chem teacher is terrible im considering adding her to the ratemyprof just to give her a 1 star cuz WHAT
Shout-out this guy
@somber socket
Psychology is always easy
thankfully i havent taken it with her
she doesnt do biol 101
My friend at unc said this abt her
How do you not finish writing an exam when the exam is thr next day....
At 8am
😭
I will say you’ll have a lot more time than you think in college
depending on courseload / cred hrs
But I assume you aren’t doing more than 16 first sem
iirc you can actually get that second one from ap physics 1 but the first one you cant get I think (depends on if you’re physics major tho)
This class some bs lol
they just make you spam proofs and I hate proofs
when I say bs i mean it’s annoying not that it’s useless btw*
you might see in discrete what I mean
btw discrete math takers def lemme know which profs you guys are taking cause some profs are horrible and your grade in that class depends fully on them
(my prof removed our final grade curve which caused everyones letter grades to drop by almost a full letter)
@mystic blade omg am i overthinking my onyen name. why are all these TRASH
I just did initials then last name 😭
fuck ur right
I think there’s a way to pick 😭
I made that mistake and my onyen is last name, first name but everything else I got is first, last
i made mine first last 😛
nice
I wonder when yall will get housing stuff since some decisions way later and all
long waiting time fr
residence halls suggestions??
Lowkey onyen generator gave me one of the coolest names I still use it
North campus my beloved
people on reddit dog on north campus. theyre like its not social enough!! pls i dont wanna take half an hour to get to class
Lowk I cannot help w freshmen dorms specifically bc I got shit on my freshman year for housing/got put into "overflow" in Alexander but I lived on north campus all 3 years I was on campus and I looooved it
Its not like north campus is that isolated either imo like you can hop on a bus to mid/south and the union/everything else is Right There
I also enjoyed Lenoir much more than Chase but that's personal pref
is it possible to speak to an advisor before i commit to unc?
😛😛 wanna know about being a part time student
Wait why not full time
will be graduating hs w an associates
i just did a few more hours of research and northwestern and columbia are blowing me away
i may have to end up applying after all just to not miss this chance
my final application decisions are in, i'm going northwestern and tufts in addition to unc and nscu. wish me luck
i decided against columbia because it was too urban for me
is assured enrollment the only way to apply as a prospective business major
UNC doesn't admit by major if that's what ur asking
And assured is obv nice but u can apply again once ur at UNC
hmm
they do see indicated academic interest when you apply though
at least that's what I can see when you preview application
According to them it's js to match u with advisors for u
alr
so would it matter if i indicate business as my major or not
like would the process be the same for "getting into business" regardless
is what i guess i'm asking
if i chose biz admin or a different major
I mean if it is, you probably should? Like just for cohesiveness, if I wrote about how much I love history might be strange to have Math on there
of course i just mean for practical purposes
my why major aligns better with economics lol
so applying biz admin or applying econ wouldn't make a difference in my ability to enroll @ biz there right
I'll note this "cycle" (NC resident EA) only ~300 (5000+ admits) assured enrollment offers were made for business so it's rare
No, you don't declare first year
Blud got into Unc University
Depends a lot on your preferred vibes ngl
You can get to classes in 15-20 min imo even if walking
But there’s buses too
stop right in front of freshmen dorms
In my opinion def pick based on your social preferences since I personally don’t think the other factors are as bad as they seem
(will also say that convenience wise for time and crowd I liked Chase and rams head freshman year)
Yeah definitely
I was one of the chase preference ppl but it was mostly for convenience reasons
No assured admit is quite rare and you can apply after first year as a prospective buisness major
ngl you might not even meet the application requirements if you aren’t listed as a buisness major already
but I’m not too sure I just know getting classes is a horrible experience for buisness majors
And I’ve seen freshmen not get their core freshman requirement classes they wanted to take first sem
No. Assured enrollment is very selective/very few people get it, especially for biz
wait so are you saying i have to apply as an intended biz major to transfer into it when i actually get there
this is kinda what i’m asking lol
Ohhh technically no BUT classes are generally reserved for those “in” the buisness major
so if i apply as a biz vs econ major will it matter for me actually studying business there
so everyone who has buisness on their connectcarolina would receive priority for the intro classes and that might put you in a rough spot for registering for the requirements iirc
ok i see
and business has requirements for freshman year
ok this makes more sense
Hmm
ok i’m gonna write and be back with more questions
In the grand scheme no but there’s requirements to apply to business and you might not be able to get them finished by the first cycle
Basically your main concern is getting into busi 100 as Econ 101 is a part of both majors
and btw (if you didn’t know already) econ does not require application only buisness
yah i was thinking of applying as an econ major and then transferring to business
but i can see that might have some complications now
buisness is definitely one of the more competitive majors here so might also be rough to apply as a econ major and switch
although I’m curious why do you plan to switch
ngl you’ll be fine for most of them as long as you do your work
im scared omg what if i get rejected what do i do????
I mean you can always reapply next cycle
do i drop out/transfer unis like..
or even switch majors if that works for you but the first is a option
which major out of curiosity are you looking at
oh wait which school is that under
I’m ngl haven’t seen met mant nursing ppl here in general
ummmm school of nursing 😭
i thought it would have a name name but it just says schoolof nursing
ohh I’m dumb
for some reason I thought it might be under public health school or something
only about 400 people apply to the SON every year, including outside applications
but theres only 150 seats
Yeah looks like a smaller but very good major here
according to the EA stats for my year its the more popular majors. so i fear its getting more competitive huhuhu oh well
Yeah it’s getting harder for a lot of stuff here
But don’t worry as long as you stay on top of stuff I feel like you’ll have a good shot
You should keep in mind a lot of people don’t know how to handle college when they get here
im just scared to get rejected cuz i basically wasted two years lol
Yeah that’s a totally valid concern
I will say tho it’s always best to think about some sort of backup option just in case
Since you never know with this application stuff and the unexpected results
thank you for the advice :)
like 8 months 😛
yeah feels crazy
It’s kinda nice in a way too tho
btw to all of you guys applying into majors don’t stress too much about it and just do your best I’m sure things will go great 🙂
ur so sweet thank u
and if not you’ll always have other options
do u mind saying what major ur doing?
lmao
The concept of being a stat and comp sci double major
it’s a fairly common one here ngl
at least among ppl doing one of those two majors
It’s certainly a very a2c like major lol
(and yes I’m unemployed 💔)
Yeah but the major stats are like spread apart
So the most popular ones might be like 15% of students or something
thx for the copium
were getting in lmfao
how much is buisness
that one’s always a big one
ah
From what I’ve seen tho for nursing it’s roughly 300-400 applicants?
and not sure how many seats
but I’d assume roughly half
ngl it looks like they just put majors they’re most known for 😭
but it’d also make sense those are most picked
Yeah but I think businesses is the most popular
i think a couple years ago certain majors werent there (like nursing 😞)
nursing is really interesting tho cause I feel like I’ve seen more of other majors not on there (like stat econ data science)
but I might just be a skewed view
for ex this was class of 3025
Economic uncertainty
And people pushing for "medical jobs" as good jobs
It's like the learn to code 💀
yeah lol
Biology is usually #1 cause pre meds
honestly respect to ppl doing medical jobs tho
evil pre med
my roommate is a premed and he’s always working on something
id love to be roommates w a premed cuz the fomo would make me do work
Apply for business since that's your intended major and then prep on the side in case it falls through
Yeah most premed and health allied ppl go bio
Dentistry, pub health, nursing, etc.
According to the national center of education statistics
So nursing is a bit up there
Included in the allied health sciences
It probably also includes other stuff tho like dental hygiene and stuff
yeah made me feel weird when i wasn’t studying so I had to go lock in too lol
Lowkey my favorite major to room with thus far has been geography
I may be biased but she was so chill
I wonder what they categorize as engineering
We watched trivia shit together it was fun
gee wonder why
LOL
(unc please make our music practice rooms bigger or less sweaty 💔)
Fr 💀
Need to shill art history & info/library sci here
(or both lol)
i love my library science majors
it’s also humbling to hear someone playing 100x better than you in the next room over while you struggle with your piece 💔
my why major totally lines up with econ/theoretical approach more (and its true!) but i know i'd want access to a biz environment in college bc huge on startups and will probably sell out into consulting if that doesn't work
This is how they define health professions
yeahh just dont know how that's going to go with my application and interests lol i feel like any why major essay i'd write would be worse if i were applying for bizadmin
i didnt knowmed techs were bachelors degrees
LOL idk how people write why majors for business and stuff
It's associates or bachelor's
ahh makes sense but unc shouldn’t really admit by major but then again I’m not sure how it would work with your essay focus
i wrote a why major for ACCOUNTING for nc state and i had to drop it cuz i gen sounded evil
Low-key nursing AS is probably the most ROI degree
lmao
exactly yeah
like i could just email them and ask but idk what 2 do about it
My community college in CT is free for first time students
The nursing school pre reqs probably take a year or so and then you can apply
Wait when are you applying or did you already apply
thats my #1 back up!! especially since u go straight in
rd
or i wouldn't be discussing what major to apply as rn 😂
ahh
I don't have a good backup cause I'm doing biochem instead of chem
i was like wait are you a different year
And I don't wanna leave my friends
just apply business bru and backup econ or whatever unc is major blind
I’ve seen ppl come in here with a senior role and be like I’m a freshman in hs what ecs do I need to get in here 😭
so I kinda wanted to make sure
bro my why major is da about like questions and philosophcial shit that comes w the theoretical approach of learning economics and allat
LMFAO THE WAY OURLANGUAGE IS DEGRADING
i really do like wharton's approach to their business degree its based in theory while still having the ability to apply deeply
but programs with standard bizadmin majors like
i have no reason for actually wanting to learn about ts imho learning about biz is dumb
but its better if u need to break into startups/consulting
lol
more resources
so thats what im figuring out
just do a ‘useful’ bachelors and do a masters in business administration
Yeah imo I feel like it might be your best bet to apply as buisness
😋 thats what people online say
are you instate rd
sooo what if i told u id rather drop out in undergrad 😛 and get a startup going
i dont wanna do a masters lol
I wonder what the oos/instate ea split will do to rd numbers/outcomes
then t r u applying to college if ur gonna drop oit
im oos btw
😵
Does anyone know if in/out of state restriction applies to the professional schools if you're already in
I don’t think so
I see I see
DO UNC STUDENTS GET RESERVED SEATS IN NURSING??
Good to know
Um
I don't know but like I feel that the majority will be unc students 😭
Dw about it
I’d assume so but prob not much based on med school stuff for unc
ok ty
i read a thread online and it was this lady form cali applying to unc nursing school
and i was like what
Wild stuff
and got rlly stressed out LMFAO i didnt know that many outside applicants applied
Well we're #4 nursing school but it really doesn't matter where you study 💀
Or not as much
yeah it’s a really good school so I’m not too surprised
but there’s definitely some other good ones here too
Top 10 world wide I think
yay clout
But yeah I don't think nursing students care as much for ranking
Why pay 60k per year for a BSN when you can go in state or community college for like free or 30k max
the concept of paying 60k a year for a bachelors in nursing
not even for np or crna
Crazy amount of loans
hello tar heels
THESE GIFS LMFAO
Do other states have something like the pinned UNC system dashboard it's so cool 😭
what is the pinned UNC system dashboard?
haven't heard of it before
yeah i got semifinalist but I got in Duke ED😭 so cant move forward anymore unfortunately
Aw
What abt robertson
I didn’t apply cuz I wasn’t ready😭😭I’ll apply next year as a duke freshman tho
I see
UNC system schools release acceptance/yield data publicly
You can look at the data & trends for any UNC school, as well as data for specific high schools, districts, school types (eg OOS, publics, etc)
lark
Could anyone drop a short review of each freshman dorm? Just to get an off-the-internet opinion
Kind of hard to give a review on each one when there's many and you couldn't have lived in them all😭😭
Was in hojo for orientation
It was a suite style with 4 rooms of 2 roommates
And one bathroom
The room was pretty spacious
And the furniture was nice
Well, it was functional
The drawers and hangers and all
You can probably see pictures on the housing website
The bathroom was spacious
It had 2 sinks
And a bench
The shower did not have a light
So it was rather dark
And the shower itself did not have a bench
Which means it isn't accessible
It was some shitty fixed showerhead 😭
And there was a cockroach
💀
Each floor has a kitchen
The kitchens didn't seem that bad but due to the sheer amounts of residence in hojo idk how busy they might be
The study lounges weren't bad, they were cute, and some very spacious, there was also a pool table on the second floor
And a big lounge with a TV in the first
The sidewalk to the entrance is a hill and not straight, so another point off for accessibility
It isn't too bad but its noticable
Definitely a problem if you use a mobility aid or have a disability
There's a bus stop right next to hojo so plus points for that
I have friends over at craige north (different from craige)
It's also a hall style
But it's 2 rooms of 2 roommates so a little less people to share the bathroom with
There's a bathroom in-between the 2 rooms
And it doesn't lock so you can access the other room through it just so yk
(I don't think the individual rooms at hojo locked either)
Its less spacious but its a bathroom so it doesn't matter
Only one sink
The stall has a door which is nice
In case someone needs to use the sink when you're using the bathroom
I don't know about the shower since I've never used it
The room itself was pretty spacious, as much as hojo I'd say
The arrangement was more vertical than horizontal
Since on one wall you have the bathroom door, and both closet doors
The closets had decent space
There is a lounge on the 2nd floor with a tv and then a really big lounge on the first with 2-3 TVs I think
And a pool table
And a kitchen which seemed nice
The sidewalk to craige north was flat
But both hojo and craige north require you to walk uphill to reach the dining hall
A lot of the south campus ones do
I can't really list them tho
Had a friend who lived in Everett which was on north campus
The room was much smaller
And it was not a suite
So youre only living with your roommate
And have a set amount of bathrooms on each floor
Can't comment much else on the inside since I've only visited once or twice
Accessibility on the outside is much better
Very flat
And 5 minutes walk to Lenoir dining hall
5 minutes to the rec center
And 5-10 minutes away from the lecture halls
Give or take, some lecture halls are far af even for north campus
They're doing construction around that area for a new residence hall so it may be a bit louder outside next year
That's mostly it
The place I live isn't a freshman dorm, so I can't comment
Can't really give suggestions
But don't listen to the whole south campus is more social stuff
I know everyone on my hall
thanks for all the info @somber socket! ❤️
Is Everett close to CoCo?
I forget the name of the housing community north of CoCo
I can't speak to any freshman specific dorms (I got fucked housing wise my freshman yr and they turned Alexander into freshie overflow) but I loved north campus
Like Ephnel said very close to a lot of nice stuff (Lenoir, libraries, student union, student store, lecture halls)
I think the furthest halls on north campus are like... stuff in Gillings and then the arts buildings? Everything else felt pretty manageable. And even the stuff that's "far" is "far by chronically ill" standard in my case xd
Plus the buses run pretty frequently in front of the buildings
Yes right across from the tennis courts
Ew
in the gt honors program they let you have a room to yourself so i'm STILL spoiled 💔 aint learning nothing over here 😭
i kinda wish a lil that i shared a room because you get a built in friend
If it helps I actually had a solid experience got lucky and did not have any bug problems
Lmao you’ll get used to it quicker than you think
For me I’d say the more annoying parts are the bathroom sharing situation in 8 person suites and imo overall quality of the bathroom (dark in shower, not the best stuff and having to move stuff in and out)
the rooms were fine for me since I really only studied and slept in my room and tended to hang out in other rooms / buildings most of the time
but it’s nice to have stuff like sofas/chairs under your bed for gatherings in your room for stuff like movies hanging out etc
But they do definitely get cramped
depending on what room you have
where did you dorm if you dont mind sharing?
how would yall rate ehringhaus as a first year dorm? ive been looking into it and have heard some good things
lmao
I was in hojo
I think ehaus and hojo are basically the same
They’re technically renovated in 2013 but they’re still not the best since they’ve gotten a bit older now
btw EVERYONE should make sure to get purifiers/dehumidifiers
regardless of dorm and how unsensitive you think you are to dust and stuff
My friends ran two smaller sized ones in the room and they were full in like a month or two
Itll make most people sick within a week or two without one as me and my roommate learned the hard way my first week
getting sick @ college w.o ur mommy
pro tips
- Do Not Go To Lecture
- make sure you have lots of water & possibly stuff like gatorade/vitamin water for those sweet electrolytes
- if you have a microwave, microwavable soups/meals are the goat
- Do Not Go To Lecture
- Do Not Go To Lecture
Keep tynenol and ibuprofen in your dorm
Yea it’s a bit annoying so I try to give out all the tips to help avoid it as much as possible
although I will say I feel like the first few weeks of freshman year most people get sick one way or another
Oh
I think it’s a college thing in general
Some sort of sickness freshman year in first few weeks
Freshman flu
Yeah
is the general application for the scholarship just 1 essay?
3 essays
Submitted Morehead Cain 🔥🔥🔥
Yikes I dont want that
skill issue you're gonna get it
frat flu 😈
my suitemate got sick with it like thrice 💀 i had it once
but thats because i barely go to any parties so if you dont want it then stay inside but it'll still get you somehow
it’ll get you somehow finds a way to get there
don’t worry abt it too much tho
obviously no one wants to get sick but it’ll happen given all the new factors
sound so ominous LOL
😭 I’m trying not to
it’s like a little cold not like the plague or something
I just think it’s something that happens cause we’re in a new place exposed to new stuff eating different food and all
and your body tries to adjust to it and you get sick when it doesn’t like something
Help pls I’m looking to transfer to unc and for the common app personal statement for UNC is it just a why transfer or the same thing as a first year?
LOL i feel like ive been seeing ur reddit posts
No way LMAOAO
im being so frl
heres a comment i saw. sorry not a transfer so idk what the process is
Kk thanks !
Anyone advance into Robertson next stage?
Not me
@somber socket someone (reddit LMFAO) said that nursing cohorts are only going to keep expanding until the new building opens!!!! u have hope. class of '27 had 30 more students than '26
30 more students in a year is kind of crazy tho
Ooo
That's good to hear
I hope it doesn't put strain but more seats is more seats
I’d assume same as first year
oh that’s cool
you mean the group activity?
Yes
yeah i did, applied early though so i had mine earlier this month :) lmk if you have any questions regarding it
can i ask what did people do for the objects?
was it incredibly serious
i just got the group stage email
It varied, some spoke about things that symbolized a very important activity, I brought a passport to highlight a key element of my identity :) I think there’s really no right or wrong, so long as it introduces who you are!
Best of luck!!
will they actually care if i changed my schedule up 😭
i didnt need physics 2 for my major here so 3rd level spanish / intro comp class were more relevant and I added them here
Not usually
Why would they? It doesnt affect anyone other than you
I figured I just peeped the "reservedl the right to reevaluate based on changes"
Valid
They shouldn’t
also happy new years to my fellow north Carolinians
and a early one to you non east coasters
happy new years!
Happy new years!
happy new years!
why are most of the freshman dorms built in the 1920s
im gonna catch a rare strain of tubercolosis
that happened at one of the ucs
if i catch tb can i sue and get my coa taken care of
unc school ong god
ur so funny
i was being frl
plss

Wait how many cc creds do u have @golden jacinth
I think I'll have over the 75 cap...but I saw you'll still get credit for the other classes just not for graduation? Cuz u need 45 at UNC
da dog ate ur excel 💔
my dumbahh didnt name it
found it
it says i have 61
cc
how many classes did u take lmfao
Lost count atp LMAO
OH i think i probably have more
than 61
cuz i took
ummmm
some stuff
64 lol
i have an ap class
one..
I think it'll be 20 in total
20 classes???
whats ur problem lol
oh hehe wait
i have 69 credits
73 including ap class
Online class cheese
y r u worried about
going over 75
doesnt it just
transfer but give 0 credit
just take some fun electives or something
ok
theres no way ur already planning ur classes
oh i thought u were planning ur unc classes
Real Analysis as a freshman frl
Fulfill a social science credit
What stem majors don't have evil classes
envsci
I remember seeing a reel about a business major proving their classes aren't easy
It was literally calc 1 content
this is a dumb question do we get to meet like advisers before we enroll for classes
or are we gonna get thrown to the wolves
ughh i feel so dumb wtf are all these terms
i spent a summer at uncw and i was tired of the unseasoned eggs the 3rd day
You have to do new student orientation before they let you register
But you can also meet with an advisor after I believe
But they plan to go over registration during orientation
ok! thank you so much!!!
EA (in state only) results?
11

Accepted
good job guys !
@mystic blade when u graduate w an associates and transfer that do u get a set # of unc hours
Aren't hours one for one ?
45 just have to be at UNC
omg i should do a minor
CAA says u can "transfer all 60 hours"
So I guess that at least
like...the major?
Who's WE
U + S
Guess it balances out they're all evil
gonna double up anyway
math and biostats
I wanted to done for piano performance
whats ur planned career
evil jane street quant
r u deadass
kidding lol !
biostatistics
thats like one of the careers where im like how do people find out they wanna do that
because forever ago I was like "how can I do a stupid amount of math and have it mean something outside of fake stock numbers"
WAIT WHY IS IT SO EXPENSIVE LOL
Shit you not one night I just had a random calling to do it
I need to start looking at the fun classes
where tf r we gonna skii
i did piano when i was in 3rd grade but was too poor to pay for classes 😭
i got my money up tho i wanna continue
Apparently they hold it in Boone during winter break
i just saw that
its a 5 day class 😭
can i take PE multiple times the classes all look so fun 😭
omg i suck at frisbee
someone taught me how to properly hold the disc in 2nd grade but i think they scammed me cuz i throw it and it goes in an L direction
Best title so far
I used to be able to throw a perfect football spiral
so mad unc doesnt have my native language
omggg id be so mad if this was the only course left
Legit the army reqs don't seem that hard
LMAO
LMFAOOO
BYE
I ALMOST GOT FOOLED
CAUSE OF THE PFP
I DON'T HAVE TT LMAOO
@mystic blade do u have ur language credits
for transfer
wait wtf am i saying
r u gonna have to take language when u get to unc
Ill take the last lvl this sem
So all Gen eds should be done
Take it at the MIT of CCs
Wake Tech
i need to take it online stat
or test out of it
PLS unc come through with a tagalog test
shut up ur Filipino too ??
or did u alr tell me that and I forgor
i should block u
Way too local
lets stop talking to each other
yo ts is too local
im genuinely confused as to go to nc state for engineering or unc
nc always
i feel like unc suits me better but i feel like its a bit of a gamble
idk if ill end up in a major that suits me and have the best shot at landing a job
i mean
i just dont know man
at the same time nc state it seems has a good career pipeline if you do engineering
What do you wanna do
UNC doesn't even have engineering besides BME 💔
on my common app for unc i put cs and econ
if u dont want to do engineering then go to unc
i genuinely enjoy econ
but i wanna pair it with something else
also i dont know about the career opportunities for econ
also considering that
my og major was supposed to be econ with data science minor
i hear info sci at unc is pretty good
cuz i wanted to be a corpo girl
i watch a girl on yt who did econ qnd works for the gov
interesting! ive heard tho, a lot of ppl at unc mainly take econ if they get rejected from kenan flagler
LMFAO yea 😭
cuz u stay on the business school and can still technically take the business courses
yea
im also interested in business
basically the crux of my situation is should i do business at unc or engineering at nc state
Envsci & Bio BA are both real easy
There are definitely more but I'd have to refresh my brain in the catalog
When you swipe into Top of Lenoir or Chase, yes
Your best shot at landing a job is picking a major you enjoy and are willing to put in the effort
It doesnt matter UNC or NCSU both schools have great job and grad school placement
Even NCSU non engineering places super well for jobs
The biggest thing thatll hurt your chances at a career is expecting it to be handed to you bc of your major or school
yayyy unc rocks (never attended)
me neither i honestly glaze this school so much its acc crazy
did u get in lol
yup!
for econ?
oh i didnt know u can do 2
i mean like
they just said to put your academic interests so i put cs and econ
and you could list up to 3 academic interests i beliebe
i did that too i think
Did u get assured for CS ?
nah i didnt apply
also i believe theres not an assured admit program for cs
i know there was one for info sci and library sci
ah thought there was
unc doesnt have engineering programs other than the joint BME one with nc state lol
unc has pretty good cs and computer related stuff tho
but our econ and business stuff is top notch !!
its just very
fratt-y
😭
we have the applied sciences major now
which has enviroE and polymerE?
i forget the 2nd discipline
INLS on top
It’s not as bad as it looks 😭
That looks like rams village not a freshman dorm
wdym Java like comp 210?
This is what I'm doing at my cc 😭 I just needed credit for 110
I think they have required advisor meetings or something at some point
ahh
so you’ll do 211/301
mayhaps
Just send me anything ur confused abt I can clarify
110 is required for math and biostats
ahh biostats
I don’t think you need past 210 for those I thought
this is a silly question but i cant find anything related to it!!!!! i only have a few pre reqs+gen eds required before applying to nursing school. if i opt to be a part time student can i live on campus as a freshman??
ive been reading online that sometimes u dont even meet w advisers before enrolling for classes so im scared i cant ask this lol 😭
We love first destinations survey
you should be allowed to
If you have been approved for enrollment in part-time classroom studies, you will be eligible for the same types of aid as a full-time student at prorated amounts and within the cost-of-attendance budget for part-time enrollment. You must be enrolled in at least six credit hours to borrow loans and receive university aid. Part-time costs listed ...
at least based on this
if youre approved to be a part time student it looks like you can live on campus still
although im curious do you not have enough general ed/fc/etc classes to be a full time student?
sorry im confused by your question
like are you done with all the general ed classes including stuff like highimpact
yeah
ohh thats a typo sorry lol
dang thats nice
i still have like 2 classes left lol
wait not all of them
but most of them
to the point where i only need to be a part time student for 2 yrs
some of them are a pain
except
communication beyond carolina
cuz i got a transfer credit
anddd
the ones with no checkmark
oh nice
i wish theyd let you start more of the major classes before apps
since its very doable for a lot of majors here to be done w the pre app classes
i think its cuz u can very much get denied from the nursing school lol :( and nursing credits dont really transfer to other institutions
thats fair
I think its unlikely you get rejected unless you half ass the reqs/your app
I believe in you 😌
^
ty this means a lot to me :3
i think buisness is one of the few you can get rejected while trying
but i think theyre usually able to tell who acrually wants to do business
Usually they don't (at least for Gillings) bc the class sizes and such are tight
Like they don't offer many sections and theyre small so the closest you can get are like the random 100 level classes lol
I know INLS you can usually get in as a nonmajor tho which is nice
yea ive realized its more of a csmajor gripe lol
Absolutely valid
theyve made the major more limited in seats and expanded class sizes
so youll see upwards of 100 open seats in the earlier classes
well im exaggerating actually its not that much but quite a few open ones for people who want to get further ahead
especially for those who are single majors
Damn
I'm a bit jealous haha
I remember holding onto my 116 seat with my life
yeah tbf theres a bunch of prereqs too that limits it to basically only cs majors the moment you pass 110/210
Yea
and cs application is basically just a formality cause basically everyone got in last year
and when i say everyone i mean everyone (believe there was a guy i knew under a 3.0 who got in too)
were all getting into our upper division schools
Yeah I think the first few cycles were rougher but I remember reading from someone in the department about how the admissions process is about "making sure CS majors have access to their courses" rather than gatekeeping the major
id hope so i shouldve been in already they mustve made a mistake 💔
yeah but it kinda serves little to no purpose these days
Already in
Are any y'all on this page 💀
stop talking to me ong
That's a terrifying thought
what if we have mutuals
I did stumble upon my neighbors Reddit acc once
every filipino knows each other
Likely 😭
I had mutuals with a random discord user
i cant ever meet u irl
Come enjoy math with me frl
r u joining the
what is it called lol
the asian club
LMFAO
theres a better name i swear
😭
There was another NC person I knew on discord who didn't join their quiz bowl team just on the off chance they'd run into me
LOL
Not very
Also there is a school of ai or something I heard?
How would you rate the classes and resources stuff
They're combining the School of Data Science and Society (SDSS) and the School of Information and Library Science (SILS) I believe
There's a lot of ick around it because they didn't consult with SILS faculty (and SILS has been around for like 70+ years)
And restructuring without consulting with SILS
But yes the plan is to combine SDSS and SILS into a new AI school
Depends a lot on the courses you take. There are a ton of different courses depending on what you want to focus on. Analytics, archival, networking... it can be kind of overwhelming if you don't have a good sense of direction because there's just so much that they offer haha. Generally the analytics stuff they have is a bit less quantitatively intensive than MATH/STOR/COMP, but it's certainly not a waste to take, especially if you're not aiming for SWE (although there are plenty of INLS majors that do go into SWE)
Makes sense thank you. Do you think I mention the new School of AI in the academic interest essay? Or keep it close to just info sci
I don't think it matters either way
Ok thank you 🙏
what are u getting ur phd in?
Geography lol
Biology BS, Environmental Sciences BS on the Quantitative Energy Systems track :)
omg i applied to a bunch of schools as envsci
i did for ea in state and got in
Do you mind sharing your stats
For info science right?
unc does not admit by major
no it was computer science but they don't look at what u apply for
yea it was 4.48 weighted, 1450 sat, 7/10 ecs, and maybe 8 or 9/10 essays and LORs
my ecs were probably a little better than average
What was your uw if you don’t mind me asking
3.889 but if your weighted is close to or above 4.5 and you're in state then you are completely fine
Gotcha thankyou
at least you should be 😭
dont worry the chapel hill cockroaches will be great decorations for your dorm :)
some of them even flicker from the radioactivity via nc state
😭
cant wait for my first pet ever ❤️
pet(s)*
can they hurry up with the finaid package omg
when does it come out again
They said late Jan
oh okay
wont it just be ur npc
they have some merit schollys
some may not be so lucky as to get these pets
(Like me)
did anyone apply to robertsons?
what housing are you
I was in hojo but I never had a roach problem although I’d heard of it from others
do you know about lark 😭
are you a freshman or
i'm a senior in hs
i thought they were this year
i'm not sure actually
as far as I know though it’s been a requirement in the state of North Carolina to live on campus first year
i know they changed it for some nc schools i'm not sure about chapel though
like for unc charlotte theres a list where if you're in a surrounding county you don't even have to dorm your freshman year
oh i have no clue then
but every friend of mine that lived off campus at uncc regret it
and I’d advise against off campus options even if you can get them freshman year as well
since freshman year is a time to meet people and stuff and being off campus is more for when your friend groups and stuff are more established
oh aparently if you use Carolina Housing or Granville Towers then you don't have to live on campus
that's true
did you room with a random
Granville technically is a dorm but also not really
it’s kinda weird
oh
I’d stay away from Granville unless Greek life is a interest tho
i don't think it is an interest for me 😭
i had some random some people I knew but my direct roommate was someone I knew
then I’d personally stick with the regular dorm options
oh is it the 8 people floor plan
yeah that’s the one I was in
okay
did you interact with people other than your direct roomate a lot
and theres only one bathroom right
wow
Yeah there is but imo it’s definitely something you can figure out in the first weeks
okay
and there’s bathrooms on the first floor of the dorm buildings if it’s a emergency thing but yea
no problem
btw definitely look into which dorms interest you based on what you’re looking for
Like closeness to classes, opportunity to meet more people, etc
but none of the above factors are bad for any of the dorm buildings but some are better than the others for certain categories
I did
yea that's true definitely will do this
did you get an interview yet?
if you’re talking about the group activity, yep I did it in early December but I also applied early
and forgot to add onto this if you end up trying to go for a 4 person suite definitely plan on a fairly high chance of being put in hojo with 4 randoms plus the 4 from your original suite
omg how did it go?
ahh Robertson
are you in it?
